    THE FREE LIBRARY OF PHILADELPHIA FOUNDATION:

    The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that supports the city of Philadelphia’s public library system.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation seeks a detail-oriented, motivated Development Associate (DA) to join our Individual Giving team. Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Advancement Officer with a dotted line to the Director of Individual Giving, the DA will play a key role in supporting donor stewardship, assisting with donor communications and direct mail, maintaining our donor database (Blackbaud Altru), and assisting with special events and Board engagement.

    This hybrid position (three days in-office) offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in relational fundraising. The DA will collaborate across Development Operations, President’s Office, Individual Giving, and Institutional Giving to strengthen reporting systems, support donor research and portfolio strategy, and manage essential administrative functions (i.e. calendar coordination, financial tracking, general inbox management, etc.).

    Ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, building relationships, and wants to grow in a mission-driven fundraising environment.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Help execute donor stewardship and cultivation communications (in collaboration with Development Operations and the Development leadership) in an organized and timely manner
    • Update donor database, including updating records, entering gifts, running reports, tracking stewardship and cultivation activities
    • Provide logistical support for direct mail including stewardship, solicitations, and special events
    • Help to identify prospective major donors through research and analytics
    • Work collaboratively with development team in donor development
    • Manage essential administrative functions, managing up when necessary (i.e. notetaking in meetings, scheduling/calendar coordination, financial tracking, inbox management, etc.)

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience in fundraising, sales, or customer service
    • Prior experience working with Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) platform(s) or donor databases with an eye toward tracking information
    • Excellent organizational skills, an eye for detail, and process driven
    • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing priorities
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
    • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work both independently and collaboratively
    • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, but an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
    • Preferred years of experience: 2+ years
    • Position requires: sitting for at least period of at least four to six hours occasional lifting up to approximately 50lbs, looking at a digital/computer screen for long periods of time
