Staff Attorney - Eviction Defense
Detalhes
Descrição
Community Justice Project, Inc., a non-profit law firm based in Miami, Florida, seeks a full-time eviction defense Staff Attorney with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience to join our eviction defense litigation team. More experienced attorneys may also be considered for a Senior Staff Attorney role. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a passionate, creative community lawyering organization to ensure tenants and mobile home residents do not face the threat of eviction alone.
This position is being hosted in collaboration with Catalyst Miami, a non-profit organization that is building a Miami where all people can afford to live well, for generations to come. Together this collaboration aims to provide underserved and low-income tenants with representation in eviction proceedings, stabilize housing for families at risk of displacement, and address other unmet civil legal aid needs.
The Staff Attorney will be responsible for defending evictions and demanding dignity for tenants in close collaboration with community organizations. They should have a background in, and passion for, providing legal representation for underserved communities; experience in housing law is preferred; and an interest in addressing the historical and structural roots of injustice, including gender, racial and economic oppression. A strong candidate for the position will be both rigorous in their advocacy and innovative about how we as lawyers can be better at supporting client and community-defined objectives.
