    The Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that quality programming is reproduced consistently and the tested curriculum is maintained in excellent working order for all Perry Outreach Program sites nationwide, by working closely with the Executive Director and Program Manager to plan and execute program logistics and maintain inventory and supplies. This key position maintains the behind-the-scenes operational excellence required to achieve the organization’s ambitious outreach goals. The Logistics Coordinator is the point of contact for the logistics support staff managing multiple shipments throughout the programming season. The Logistics Coordinator will work closely with the Program Manager to ensure successful program execution.

    This is a part-time position with flexible work hours at the pay rate of $25/hour. The Logistics Coordinator is expected to work 15-20 hours per week.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Warehouse Logistics

    • Maintain an on-site warehouse for program equipment and supplies.
    • Coordinating closely with the Program Manager to obtain critical logistics information for each program.
    • Control inventory of program supplies and equipment, which includes over 200 items for each program. Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and equipment at all times in accordance with budget set by Executive Director.
    • Create and coordinate a tight shipping schedule of program supplies and equipment. This includes regularly interfacing with shipping carriers to ensure on-time delivery and turn-around at program sites nationwide and regularly track shipment locations to ensure on-time shipping and receiving timelines.
    • Supervise part-time and volunteer staff in packing, receiving, and re-inventorying program supplies and when necessary, perform these tasks independently.
    • Continuously improve warehousing processes, including but not limited to inventorying, sourcing consumables, and volunteer coordination.
    • Maintain and update standard operational procedures related to warehousing and shipping in sufficient detail to facilitate training and supervision of Perry Initiative Volunteers

    Part-Time Staff & Volunteer Supervision

    • Assist in recruiting volunteers and part-time warehouse staff.
    • Train and directly supervise volunteers and part-time staff for warehouse tasks. This involves leading regular meetings with these direct reports.
    • Create and maintain an atmosphere of collegiality and appreciation; plan and execute periodic acknowledgement events for volunteers

    Other

    • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all Logistics Coordinator responsibilities and those of direct reports.
    • Occasionally staff a program, either on-site or virtually. This will involve completing training on Perry Initiative program curriculum.
    • As requested, represent the organization at national conferences, trade shows, and other public events.

    Qualifications (Required):

    • Received or pursuing bachelor’s degree in engineering, education, communication, non-profit management, project management and/or STEM field of study
    • Interest in science education and commitment to inclusivity and workforce development.
    • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at once
    • Live within commuting distance of headquarters in Newark, Delaware, which is in the Greater Philadelphia/Baltimore Area. Hybrid work schedule is negotiable but must be able to be on-site at headquarters several days per week.
    • Valid Driver’s License & willingness to operate a rental car.

    Qualifications (Preferred):

    • Experience working with/mentoring high school students and/or volunteer staff
    • Experience with customer relations management (CRM) software, e.g., SalesForce, Zoho, etc
    • Open to traveling 5-6x annually to program sites and/or conferences
    • Received degree above bachelor’s in engineering, education, communication, non-profit management, project management and/or STEM field of study

    Physical Demands: requires sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, waist twisting, kneeling, climbing stairs/ladders, reaching up to shoulder height, lifting/pushing/pulling over 60 lbs., carrying up to 30 lbs., fine finger manipulation, simple/power grasp, repetitive hand/arm use, exposure to latex, ability to differentiate color, verbal communication.
