The Meetings Manager provides leadership for SSA’s meetings programs, including the annual meeting, topical meetings and workshops. This includes the overall management and logistics for SSA’s conferences, exhibit and sponsorship relations, and budget management (including revenue generation) in collaboration with the SSA leadership team and SSA staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership
- Works with stakeholders to create the SSA annual meeting program, topical meeting and related meetings and directs their implementation.
- Collaborates in cross-functional SSA teams to identify topics appropriate to the SSA audience.
- Manages meetings team and provides leadership and mentoring; evaluates performance and determines work assignments, methods and priorities.
- Implement best practices and develops planning standards, policies and procedures.
- Makes recommendations for systems and process improvement when gaps are identified.
Budget
- Develops meetings budgets and negotiates related contracts.
- Manages the organization’s resources within budget parameters. Monitors expenses and take corrective action to meet financial goals.
- In partnership with the finance teams, creates financial reports to evaluate key performance indicators and guide decision making.
Programming and Meetings Logistics
- Directs program development and abstracts management.
- Analyzes evaluations and provide recommendations for program/product improvement based on data.
- Develops the strategy, planning and organizing of logistical arrangements and exhibits/sponsorships for SSA meetings and conferences.
- Works with contractors, audio/visual company, hotels, registration company and other meeting industry vendors.
- Develops and sells sponsorship packages, pricing, benefits and recognition. Oversees and provides input for exhibits and sponsorship functions to include prospectus, floorplans, service manual, fulfillment and reporting.
- Oversees timelines and registration activities to include set up, correspondence, registration (pre-meeting and onsite) and reporting for the annual meeting, topical meetings and workshops.
- Oversees the logistical arrangements with hotels, including food and beverage, audio/visual and room setups.
Other
- Supervises a meetings coordinator.
- Works collaboratively with SSA staff and contractors, providing leadership for the full team at conferences.
Benefícios
SSA is a non-profit Society, based in California. Preference will be given to residents of California. Compensation for this full-time position includes three-weeks of paid vacation and paid health, vision and dental insurance. After one year of successful employment, SSA deposits and equivalent of 9% salary into a retirement account at TIAA-Cref.
