    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Development Assistant works closely with the Deputy Director of Advancement to cultivate resources for Blank Forms programming and operations. As part of a small team, the Development Assistant will gain exposure to and contribute to the organization’s full range of individual, foundation, government, corporate, benefit, and special event fundraising initiatives, and will serve as the primary point person for development operations.

    This is a part-time hourly position requiring 20–24 hours per week. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required for special events and during gallery exhibitions. The rate is $25–$30/hour, with benefits that include accrued paid sick days, as well as paid vacation days.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain the donor database through prompt gift and data entry, and produce relevant reports.
    • Work with the Deputy Director of Advancement to maximize the utility of the CRM for development operations and strategy.
    • Assist in the planning of, and coordinate production for, a year-round program of fundraising events, including the annual gala and anniversary party, as well as cultivation and member events.
    • Manage benefit fulfillment for the Blank Forms membership program, and liaise with members and contributors in coordination with the Deputy Director of Advancement.
    • Help track and implement department calendars for foundation and government grants, donor stewardship and communications, campaigns, and special events.
    • Contribute draft text for appeals, correspondence, reports, and grants as requested.
    • Support invoicing, processing, and acknowledgment of gifts.
    • Assist with donor stewardship, and ensure proper crediting of gifts and grants.
    • Assist with individual and institutional prospect research.
    • Provide support for the implementation of benefit art sales and editions.
    • Assist with other fundraising and administrative tasks as necessary.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
    • Well-organized and detail-oriented, with ability to think strategically, handle sensitive information, understand priorities, and focus on details and follow through.
    • An effective team member, possessing initiative, creativity, and energy.
    • Prior professional experience or training in one or more of the following areas is preferred: nonprofit fundraising, project management, data management, executive assistance.
    • Experience with writing and editing, event planning, and/or database management is also a plus.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

    Founded in 2016, Blank Forms is a Brooklyn-based nonprofit supporting emerging and historically significant artists who produce work across disciplines, often rooted in traditions of experimental and creative music. We aim to establish new frameworks to preserve, nurture, and present these artists’ work and to build platforms for practices underrepresented in art’s commercial, institutional, and historical fields. Blank Forms collaborates with artists on commissions, exhibitions, publications, as well as archival and estate projects within contemporary cultural ecosystems and in perpetuity.
