Our team utilizes our passions and professional talents to help shape successful learning environments where school violence, suspensions, and arrests are significantly reduced annually.

    About the Opportunity

    The Restorative Practice Coach (RPC) will be responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating our in-school restorative practice and peer mediation programs. The RPC will work directly with educators and youth participants across the New York City tri-state community, where many staff use the skills of restorative practice in their classrooms and the principal is committed to further developing SEL skills and experiential, student-centered learning in the 2025–2026 school year.

    We are hiring (3) Three Restorative Practice Coaches (RPC) to serve at (2) Schools in Queens, NY and (1) School in South Bronx.

    Please see the schools listed below, where we are hiring one RP Coach to serve at each site.

    1. J.H.S. 217 Robert A. Van Wyck [85-05 144th St, Briarwood, NY 11435] (Queens)
    2. JHS 226 Virgil I. Grissom [121-10 Rockaway Blvd, South Ozone Park, NY 11420] (Queens)
    3. International Community High School [345 Brook Ave, Bronx, NY 10454] (Bronx)

    Role & Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate will possess the ability to:

    • Support the sustainability of the peer mediation program
    • Coordinate and track mediations
    • In collaboration with the Peer Mediators, create a public relations campaign to raise awareness about the mediation program in the school community
    • Facilitate a weekly Peer Mediation club
    • Serve as a trusted partner and resource for the school community
    • Awaken interest in relationship building and creating a learning community of students and teachers
    • Facilitate professional development and training for teachers, students, school administration, and support staff throughout NYC
    • Coach and support newly trained teachers on the integration of restorative practices in their classrooms
    • Work closely with the school’s leadership team to establish and implement a school-wide Restorative Practice Action Plan
    • Coach and support the school’s discipline team and support staff on the implementation of restorative discipline to assure sustainability of this effort
    • Facilitate parent workshops on the use of restorative practices and mediation skills in the home
    • Attend DREAM! staff meetings
    • Be willing and able to prepare for your assigned placement
    • Maintain paperwork submission deadlines on a daily and monthly basis

    Essential Qualifications

    • BA or BFA in related training preferred
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching, curriculum development, and working with youth
    • In-depth knowledge, commitment to, and experience in Restorative Practices, the philosophy and art of Circle Keeping, and Conflict Resolution
    • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
    • Ability to design interactive and effective lesson plans for youth and adults
    • Prior work experience with schools and organizing in urban communities, or similar
    • Must complete DREAM!’s Tier 1–3 restorative practice and mediation training
    • Minimum commitment of August 2025 through July 2026

    Preferred Qualification

    • Bilingual (English and Spanish)

    • Integrity, credibility, and a commitment/passion for DREAM!’s mission
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
    • Ability to problem-solve, work with a team, and ask for help
    • Demonstrated classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a structured, positive learning environment
    • Experience organizing and coordinating groups of people
    • Ability to communicate and follow up regularly with the DREAM! Director of Programs

    Compensation

    • $30 per hour when coordinating and sustaining the mediation program (AMC/RPC)
    • $25 per hour while performing administrative duties

    Immediate/ Time Commitment

    • Must be able to commit to a two [2] week paid training during the weeks of January 12- January 16, 2026 and January 19-January 23, 2026
    • Must be able to commit to the following work schedule:
      • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:30 AM-3:30 PM on-site at designated school
      • Fridays: 10 AM-4 PM in-person at the DREAM! Office
