    About the Position

    Location: Perry Street Preparatory Public Charter School

    Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

    The Director of Operations (DOO) ensures that Perry Street runs smoothly each day by managing the main office team and all non-instructional functions of the school. This role supports staff, students, and families by overseeing daily operations, compliance, vendor relationships, and strategic planning—allowing teachers and leaders to focus on student success.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Operations Leadership Manage daily operational systems including arrival/dismissal, transitions, school meals, facility cleanliness, and safety.
    • Coordinate and execute logistics for testing windows, field trips, school events, and internal ceremonies.
    • Oversee day-to-day building needs and serve as primary liaison with janitorial and maintenance vendors.
    • Operations and Program Management
    • Create and manage operational systems to ensure efficient daily functioning for staff, students, and visitors
    • Oversee the school’s food and nutrition program, ensuring NSLP compliance and accurate reporting. Oversee and lead annual reporting, compliance, and program application. Ensure timely and accurate compliance with all program requirements. Work with food vendors to ensure quality and manage meal program data.
    • Support with reporting and grant writing for school programming
    • Lead and manage the school common areas (front foyer, office, etc.) main office team and ensure a well-organized, clean, and responsive office environment.
    • Oversee supply ordering and inventory, and ensure the cleanliness and functionality of common areas.
    • Serve as key point of contact for operational feedback
    • Staff & Coverage CoordinationSupervise front office staff and manage in-house substitute pool and emergency coverage.
    • Support operational planning and logistics in collaboration with instructional leaders.
    • Assist with staff communication systems and culture-building efforts including celebrations and team check-ins.
    • Send out daily coverage schedules; including managing coverage pay tracking and assignments
    • Compliance & Systems
    • Manage school based technology platforms including Dean’s List, SchoolPass, PowerSchool, etc.
    • Manage and support compliance with district, charter, and state regulations including the annual compliance review with PCSB, attendance reporting, immunization and health records, etc.
    • Collaborate with the Family Engagement and Data Manager to maintain accurate PowerSchool records.
    • Serve as a point of contact for operational technology platforms: Dean’s List, SchoolPass, and PowerSchool.
    • Maintain accurate school and student records
    • Finance & Communication Manage invoice processing and track vendor payments for operations-related expenses.
    • Draft and distribute school newsletters, internal updates, and event communications.
    • Oversee payments, billing, and vendor relationships for all school-based services.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely, accurate payments and budget alignment.
    • Ensure accurate financial documentation and vendor payments
    • Afterschool, Athletics, and External PartnersLead before and after school partner programming, ensuring smooth logistics and communication ensuring programs run effectively, meet program goals and targets, and strong student, staff, and family satisfaction. Ensure all program reporting is timely and meets all deadlines and requirements.
    • Lead afterschool logistics, partnership coordination, and internal communication.
    • Liaise with the Athletic Director to ensure seamless coordination of games, practices, and equipment needs.
    • Compliance & EnrollmentWork with the Family Engagement and Data Manager to support student enrollment and ensure OSSE compliance.
    • Assist the COO in preparing and submitting OSSE reports.
    • Maintain systems for compliance documentation and audit readiness.
    • Facilities & MaintenanceOversee daily building operations, maintenance, and repairs and coordinate with Facilities contractor
    • Act as the point person for all facilities-related needs, including repairs and maintenance.
    • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to maintain a safe, fully functional school environment.
    • Strategic Support & LeadershipWork closely with the COO and School Principal to implement the school’s vision and operational goals.
    • Support preparation of board materials and ensure timely PCSB compliance reporting.
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Supervision Supervise staff and contractors: 1) Front office staff; 2) in-house subs and external substitutes; 3)Food vendor ; 4) After-care/before-care providers; 5) School nurse or health support staff

    Qualifications:

    • Required Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
    • 5+ years of experience in school or nonprofit operations
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
    • Knowledge of OSSE, PCSB, and NSLP regulations is a plus
    • Comfortable using Google Workspace, Excel, and school systems
    • Strong knowledge of school-based technology platforms
    • Required Core Competencies:Ability to align operations with organizational goals of the school
    • Effective design and implementation expensive in creating, tracking, and implementing systems and processes
    • Proven ability to lead and manage complex projects from inception to completion
    • Ability to interpret and use data to drive operational improvements
    • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to communicate persuasively in positive and negative situations
    • Capacity to accept feedback from others, make decisions, and exhibit sound and accurate judgment
    • Able to work independently or with others in a team approach
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in written and oral formal including in the use of spreadsheet and financial reporting

    • Math aptitude, including comfort with numbers and accounts payable;
    • Knowledge and experience using Windows, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Google Documents;

    • Good interpersonal skills with students, staff and families;

    Compensation and Benefits

    Perry Street Prep offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package. The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $130,000 based on level of education and years of experience.
