    The National Committee on United States-China Relations fosters communication and exchange between the United States and China in support of productive bilateral relations and U.S. national interests.

    The National Committee achieves its mission through public educational programming, dialogues and exchanges between American and Chinese counterparts on issues of importance to the U.S.-China relationship, and supporting next-generation leadership development.

    Position Description

    The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative individual to support a range of programs. The Program Associate’s primary responsibility will be to work on the Committee’s Track II Dialogues and public outreach programs; however, work on and involvement in other programs will also be required.

    Key Functions

    • Provide administrative, logistical, and programmatic support across the National Committee's portfolio of programs and events, with specific responsibility to its Track II dialogues.
    • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of various meetings, conferences, exchanges, delegations, briefings, webinars, and other virtual and in-person programs.
    • Support participant engagement and communication before, during, and after program activities.
    • Contribute to program evaluation, reporting, and other post-event activities.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct background research and prepare briefing materials to support program development and implementation.
    • Coordinate domestic and international travel, accommodation, meeting logistics, and event-related arrangements.
    • Prepare and distribute electronic and printed program materials, including agendas, participant packets, briefing books, and correspondence.
    • Manage Zoom meetings, webinars, and other virtual program platforms.
    • Provide onsite and virtual event support, including participant registration, speaker coordination, and program execution.
    • Maintain communication with program participants, speakers, institutional partners, and other stakeholders.
    • Assist with budget tracking, invoicing, expense reimbursements, vendor payments, and financial reconciliations.
    • Obtain price quotes, coordinate contracts and logistical arrangements with vendors and service providers.
    • Maintain and update participant databases, contact records, and program-related information systems.
    • Monitor and compile China-related developments, academic research, policy discussions, and current events relevant to National Committee programming.
    • Assist with program evaluation, data collection, grant reporting, and other organizational reporting requirements.
    • Support the preparation of grant proposals, donor materials, and program communications.
    • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the National Committee's mission and programs.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
    • This is a hybrid position. Candidates must be available to work in the Manhattan office.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent project management and time-management skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team as well as independently.
    • Excellent written (including editing) and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to interact professionally with senior government officials, business executives, educators, scholars, donors, and program participants.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms.
    • Interest in U.S.-China relations, international affairs, and public policy.
    • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
    • Experience living, studying, or working in China is preferred.
    • Mandarin language proficiency is preferred.

    The expected annual salary range for this position is between $65,000-70,000.
