amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Video Producer, Animator and Editor.
amfAR is a leading nonprofit advancing scientific discovery to improve global health, with a primary and enduring commitment to ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic. As a catalyst for breakthrough science, amfAR supports innovative research in HIV and other diseases where viruses and the immune system play a critical role. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
The Video Producer/Animator and Editor will be a key member of the Public Information Department helping bring our stories, science, and mission to life through compelling video and animated content. This is a hands-on, social-first creative role for an expert storyteller who moves seamlessly between video editing and motion design and lives comfortably in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
Reporting to the Creative Director, the Video Producer/Animator and Editor will collaborate closely with marketing, communications, and other departments to help shape video content strategy from concept through execution. The ideal candidate is both creatively ambitious and highly organized—someone who can develop ideas, execute them at a high level, manage multiple projects, and adapt quickly as priorities evolve.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create digital-first video content across short-form and long-form formats for social media, digital advertising, websites, email, events, and other marketing channels.
Develop concepts and pitch creative ideas that translate amfAR’s mission, scientific work, and fundraising stories into engaging visual content.
Collaborate with the Creative Director to develop and execute video content strategy across platforms and campaigns, participating in brainstorms and contributing ideas, perspectives, and solutions.
Translate storyboards, creative concepts, and briefs into polished, animation-rich video content.
Edit footage and create motion graphics, animation, transitions, typography, and other visual elements that strengthen the storytelling.
Bring a strong understanding of platform-native content to every project, tailoring creative for the way audiences consume content on different channels.
Manage multiple active projects simultaneously, communicating clearly with creative leads and cross-functional partners about progress, timelines, priorities, and capacity.
Maintain organized, scalable project files and production workflows, including clear asset management and archival structures.
Identify opportunities to improve and streamline video production processes and proactively develop solutions.
Ensure all video assets meet technical specifications and are optimized for their intended platform and audience.
Stay current on emerging video, motion design, social, and digital creative trends and identify opportunities to bring new approaches to amfAR’s work.
Qualifications:
3–5 years of professional experience creating social-first video, animation, and motion content in a brand, agency, nonprofit, media, or digital-first content environment. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, with strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator. Strong understanding of motion design principles, including timing, easing, pacing, transitions, typography, and visual rhythm. Exceptional editing instincts and a strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and narrative structure. A keen eye for design and an ability to use motion and visual elements purposefully to strengthen and advance a narrative. Ability to take a project from concept through execution while balancing creative ambition with deadlines and practical constraints. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to offer constructive creative feedback and challenge ideas when doing so will make the work stronger. A proactive, solutions-oriented approach and a willingness to continuously improve creative and production processes. Knowledge of AI-assisted creative and video production workflows. Experience operating professional video cameras, lighting, and audio equipment for on-site productions, as well as shooting interviews, events, or documentary-style content. Experience working with nonprofit, advocacy, health, science, or mission-driven organizations.
