    The Allen-Stevenson School, in New York City, seeks a visionary and dynamic Upper Division teacher beginning in August 2025. The ideal applicant is passionate about empowering students to become confident, creative, and responsible users of technology to solve problems. The successful candidate will design and deliver a technology program grounded in the ISTE Standards and Transformational Learning Principles, emphasizing learner-driven exploration, deep understanding, and real-world application.

    This full-time position is eligible for a complete benefits package. Compensation: $85,000-$95,000 commensurate with education and experience. Reports to: Director of Library Services and Educational Technology. Master’s Degree preferred.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and implement a future-ready technology curriculum for grades 5-8 technology classes that cultivates digital literacy, computational thinking, and ethical innovation.
    • Teach an innovation elective to grades 7-8 and core digital competencies for classroom participation to grades 5-6 during their Skills block.
    • Collaborate with the Lower Division Innovative Technology Integrator to ensure a cohesive and developmentally appropriate TK–8 technology scope and sequence.
    • Facilitate project-based learning in our makerspace using tools such as 3D printers, LEGO robotics, Arduino, Makey-Makey, and other hands-on materials.
    • Guide students through all phases of the design thinking process, from ideation and research to prototyping, iteration, documentation, and communication.
    • Inspire self-directed learning by helping students build the confidence and skills to teach themselves new tools, technologies, and creative strategies.
    • Infuse teaching with principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and sustainability, highlighting how technology intersects with justice and environmental impact.
    • Integrate age-appropriate AI tools and concepts to cultivate students’ AI literacy and ethical awareness in a rapidly evolving digital world.
    • Collaborate with Upper Division faculty across disciplines to support interdisciplinary projects and real-world problem-solving.
    • Design and deliver engaging professional development opportunities for faculty on the effective use of educational technology.
    • Communicate with parents and community members through presentations and showcases that highlight student learning, growth, and innovation.
    • Staff the circulation desk occasionally as needed

    Competencies, Skills, Knowledge, and Expectations

    • An advanced degree in education, instructional technology, computer science, or a related field is preferred.
    • Experience teaching middle school and a genuine appreciation for middle school learners; a desire to inspire, connect, and learn alongside them.
    • Proficiency preferred in coding, design thinking, digital fabrication, and emerging technologies. Working knowledge of makerspace equipment and safety protocols.
    • Commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable learning environments. An eagerness to grow professionally and a dedication to lifelong learning.
    • Collaboration skills and a desire to foster positive relationships within the community.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills with both internal and external audiences.
    • Active participant in professional organizations such as NYCIST and ISTE; stay current on educational technology trends
    • Familiarity with ISTE’s Transformational Learning Principles and a passion for reimagining what school can be through student-centered innovation.
