About DAY ONE Early Learning Community

DAY ONE Early Learning Community is a 501(c)(3) social impact organization dedicated to strengthening communities by investing in our youngest members. We train exceptional teachers, empower families, and deliver high-quality early learning experiences centered in equity, inclusion, and social justice. Founded in 2019, our work spans New York State, uplifting historically marginalized communities and advancing systemic change in early childhood education.

    Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, bilingual (Spanish/English) Family & Community Services Liaison to strengthen connections between DAY ONE and the network of community resources that help children, families, educators, apprentices, and staff thrive.

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Partnerships & Workforce Initiatives, this position serves as a trusted bridge between participants and community-based services, helping individuals navigate barriers related to housing, food security, healthcare, transportation, financial stability, workforce participation, and overall well-being.

Working across DAY ONE's Early Learning Center, Teaching Apprenticeship Pathway (TAP), workforce initiatives, and family engagement programming, the Liaison builds authentic relationships, coordinates referrals, develops community partnerships, and helps ensure every participant has equitable access to the support they need to succeed.

This is not a traditional case management position. Rather, it is a relationship-centered role focused on empowering families, supporting educators and apprentices, and strengthening the communities we serve.

    Core Responsibilities

    Family, Apprentice & Staff Support

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for families, apprentices, educators, and staff seeking assistance with community resources and supportive services.
    • Build trusting relationships using strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices.
    • Conduct individualized needs assessments to identify barriers impacting family stability, educational success, employment, or overall well-being.
    • Develop individualized support plans and connect participants with appropriate community resources.
    • Follow up with participants to ensure successful referrals and continued support.
    • Empower participants to navigate community systems independently while advocating when appropriate.

    Community Resource Navigation

    • Maintain knowledge of community resources throughout the Hudson Valley.
    • Connect participants to services including:
      • Housing and rental assistance
      • Food security programs
      • Healthcare and health insurance
      • Mental health and behavioral health services
      • Domestic violence and legal resources
      • Immigration services
      • Childcare assistance
      • Workforce development and employment supports
      • Transportation assistance
      • Parenting education
      • Financial literacy
      • Public benefits
      • Adult education and English language learning
      • Emergency assistance
      • Maintain a current bilingual resource directory and strengthen referral pathways across the region.

    Internal Collaboration & Family Support

    • Partner with Early Learning Center teachers through monthly family support meetings to identify family needs and coordinate services.
    • Meet regularly with the TAP Instructor to support apprentices experiencing barriers to attendance, employment, or program completion.
    • Collaborate with supervisors and leadership to connect DAY ONE employees with community resources during times of personal or family need.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary planning meetings while maintaining confidentiality. ● Serve as an internal resource for staff seeking guidance on community supports and referral processes.

    Community Partnerships & Engagement

    • Build and maintain relationships with nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, schools, government agencies, housing organizations, legal service providers, behavioral health providers, workforce development organizations, and other community partners.
    • Represent DAY ONE at community meetings, coalitions, and collaborative initiatives. ● Identify service gaps and cultivate partnerships that expand access to resources throughout the Hudson Valley.
    • Coordinate workshops, educational opportunities, and resource fairs that strengthen families and promote community well-being.

    Administrative Support

    • Maintain accurate and confidential participant records.
    • Track referrals, follow-up activities, and participant outcomes.
    • Contribute data for grant reporting, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement.
    • Monitor trends and identify emerging community needs to inform program development.

    Qualifications

    • Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written) required.
    • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, Education, Community Development, Counseling, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
    • Minimum three years of experience in family support, social services, community engagement, workforce development, education, or related fields.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources, public benefits, and referral systems. ● Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and advocacy skills. ● Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment.
    • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the Hudson Valley. ● Experience working with immigrant communities, multilingual populations, early childhood programs, or nonprofit organizations is preferred.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, restorative practices, and culturally responsive family engagement is strongly preferred.
