The Opportunity
A major private philanthropic foundation with a longstanding commitment to strengthening Jewish life and creating meaningful impact in the United States and Israel is building a new grantmaking team and seeking an experienced Grants Officer focused on Jewish Day Schools.
This is a newly created position reporting to the Executive Vice President of Grants. The Grants Officer will bring deep knowledge of Jewish day schools to a major philanthropic institution and help identify and support opportunities for investment in this space. The Grants Officer will build relationships with organizations and their leaders, evaluate potential investments, and manage a portfolio of grants.

What You'll Do
- Monitor trends, developments, challenges, and opportunities affecting Jewish day schools and day school programs.
- Identify opportunities for philanthropic investment in the field consistent with the foundation’s mission.
- Build relationships with organizations and their leaders across the Jewish day school landscape.
- Assess educational quality, enrollment/demographic trends, affordability, leadership, and institutional sustainability.
- Understand the landscape of school networks and field-building organizations.
- Review proposals and participate in due diligence processes.
- Monitor grants and grantee compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for the Board and/or Board committees.
- Work closely with the finance office, legal department, and colleagues across the grants team.
- Bring strategic thinking, sound judgment, and broad field knowledge to philanthropic decision-making.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
- At least five years of full-time professional experience.
- Bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred.
- Deep knowledge of Jewish day schools in the United States.
- Ability to assess organizations, programs, and investment opportunities using sound field knowledge, analytical judgment, and an understanding of philanthropic strategy.
- Experience with grant initiation, development, monitoring, and analysis.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
