About Groove With Me

Groove With Me, Inc. is a youth development organization that provides free dance classes and performance opportunities to empower young women. By fostering leadership, creativity, teamwork, and discipline, the organization helps participants build self-confidence and address challenges in their lives and future growth. The program aims to reduce risks such as teen pregnancy, crime, violence, and substance abuse by creating a supportive, positive environment. Groove With Me, Inc. serves as a safe space for personal development and making constructive life choices. It brings arts programming to children who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

The Opportunity

This is a full-time on-site role for a Program Coordinator located in New York, NY. The Program Coordinator will assist with program operations, coordination of dance classes, and scheduling performance opportunities. Responsibilities include managing communications with instructors, families, and volunteers, overseeing program logistics, and contributing to the planning and execution of events. The role requires someone who can act as a liaison between staff, participants, and the broader community while ensuring smooth program operations. This role sits at the intersection of student programming, community partnerships, and organizational operations. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and genuinely excited about expanding dance opportunities for girls in Harlem.

Key Responsibilities

Programming & Performances

• Actively seek out dance-related performance opportunities in the Harlem community and beyond, keeping the mission of equal participation central
• Manage and coordinate all external performance opportunities, including logistics, communication with partner organizations, and student preparation
• Co-lead preparation for the annual recital, including costumes, music, and family communications
• Co-lead preparation for summer camp programming, including planning, staffing, and enrollment
• Sub dance classes as needed to ensure program continuity

After-School Programs

• Oversee the day-to-day management of after-school programs, ensuring smooth operations and a positive experience for students and families
• Serve as a point of contact for families and partners

Scholarships

• Serve as the contact for scholarships at ATDF and other dance schools
• Coordinate the summer scholarships that our girls have the opportunity to receive

Interns & Operations

• Oversee interns, including onboarding, task assignment, supervision, and feedback
• In-kind donations and costume inventory
• Take initiative to identify and resolve operational issues — if something needs fixing, either address it directly or ensure the right person is called in

• Commitment to Groove With Me's mission and values
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills with families, volunteers, partners, and students
• A proactive mindset — you notice what needs to be done and do it
• Experience working with children or youth programs preferred
• Background or genuine interest in dance, arts education, or performing arts a plus
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends for performances and events
