    Location: Hybrid / Philadelphia-based

    Hours: Part-time, beginning at approximately 10 hours per week, with potential to grow to 20 hours per week

    Compensation: Up to $34,000 annually (pro-rated based on hours)

    About the Garces Foundation

    The Garces Foundation is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting immigrants and their families through education, workforce development, and comprehensive healthcare clinics. Our work centers on dignity, opportunity, and practical support for people building new lives in the city.

    Our team is intentionally lean and collaborative. The Grant Writer plays a central role in sustaining and growing the organization’s institutional funding base.

    Position Overview

    The Garces Foundation is seeking a skilled, strategic, and detail-oriented Grant Writer with a demonstrated history of successfully securing funding from foundations, corporations, and/or government sources.

    As reflected in our organizational structure GF org chart v1, the Grant Writer works closely with the Executive Director and Program Director and is a key part of the organization’s development and operations infrastructure. This role focuses on grant research, proposal development, reporting, and maintaining a strong, organized grants pipeline.

    This role is designed to be sustainable and well-scoped, with clear priorities and predictable hours.

    The ideal candidate is an excellent writer who can translate programmatic and financial information into compelling narratives and who is comfortable working independently in a small, mission-driven environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Grant Research & Strategy

    • Research and identify foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities
    • Maintain and update a strategic grants calendar and submission plan

    Proposal Development

    • Draft, revise, and submit high-quality grant proposals and letters of inquiry
    • Collaborate with leadership and program staff to gather program descriptions, budgets, metrics, and outcomes
    • Prepare supporting attachments and required documentation

    Grant Reporting & Stewardship

    • Prepare and submit interim and final reports to funders
    • Track deadlines and reporting requirements
    • Maintain organized records of proposals, awards, and funder communications

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated history of successfully securing grant funding
    • Proven experience writing compelling and persuasive grant proposals
    • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
    • Ability to synthesize programmatic and financial information into clear, fundable narratives
    • Comfort managing multiple deadlines and submissions
    • Familiarity with foundation and/or government funding environments
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
    • Alignment with the mission and values of the Garces Foundation

    Preferred (but Not Required)

    • Experience with education, workforce development, healthcare, or immigrant-serving organizations
    • Familiarity with common grant portals and reporting systems
    • Experience collaborating on budgets or financial narratives

    Work Structure

    • Hybrid work arrangement
    • Part-time role beginning at approximately 10 hours per week, with potential to increase based on organizational needs and performance
    • Reports to the Executive Director
