    About the Organization

    Lotus Endowment Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) supporting foundation for The Sundari Foundation, Inc. and its initiatives, including the Lotus House Women’s Shelter, the largest women and children's homeless shelter in the country; the Children’s Village, an innovative collective impact education and resource center for children and families of Lotus House and the Overtown community; and other Lotus House initiatives, such as the establishment and growth of the National Women’s Shelter Network. Lotus Endowment Fund was established to secure the financial stability and long-term viability of the Sundari Foundation, to ensure Lotus House and its wide-ranging initiatives will serve as resources for women, children, and youth in need for generations to come.

    Position Summary

    The Assistant Director will support the Endowment’s leadership in managing daily operations, board governance, financial administration, and compliance functions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills who thrives in a mission-driven environment. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director and President to maintain the Foundation’s integrity, transparency, and impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Support the Director in overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring accurate and timely management of business, financial, legal, HR, and operational records.
    • Assist with financial operations, including processing invoices, managing accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, budgeting, and reporting, while helping maintain compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
    • Support the Director in fundraising and donor relations, including preparing acknowledgment letters, tracking contributions, assisting with grant applications, coordinating campaigns, and helping organize donor and community events.
    • Assist in implementing organizational projects and initiatives, including tracking timelines, budgets, and deliverables, supporting strategic planning efforts, and helping coordinate government approvals and compliance requirements.
    • Support governance and compliance efforts by preparing Board materials, maintaining records, assisting with regulatory filings, and helping ensure ongoing adherence to organizational policies and legal requirements.
    • Contribute to community outreach and public awareness initiatives by helping build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and philanthropic organizations, and providing support at events as needed.
    • Provide research, administrative, and coordination support for social and public policy initiatives aligned with the Endowment’s mission, helping advance organizational priorities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in law or accounting preferred.
    • 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit administration, legal, real estate, finance, executive support, or operations management.
    • Strong organizational and writing skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
    • General familiarity with nonprofit finance, governance, and compliance practices.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
    • Commitment to the Endowment’s mission to uplift and empower women, youth, and children in need.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Salary range: $65,000-90,000, commensurate with experience.
