    About Para Los Niños

    From birth and beyond, Para Los Niños supports and empowers the entire Latin American family through early learning and kindergarten readiness, literacy and academic skills development, summer enrichment, and parent leadership and advocacy programs. PLN believes that all Latino children are capable of excellence, and we achieve that goal by building culturally relevant programs upon a foundation of love and respect, supported by a community leadership model that recognizes the talents and skills of each person. We have built deep relationships of trust with hundreds of families because they are a bilingual and bicultural organization that uplifts our community’s language, culture, and heritage. PLN holistically supports the whole family through the lens of Latino language and culture and the immigrant experience, to meet developmental, social, and learning goals.

    Position Overview

    The Early Learning Specialist supports Para Los Niños de Highline’s Early Learning and Family Engagement programs, serving children ages 2–5 and their families. This position focuses on culturally responsive early childhood education, parent engagement, and developmental support rooted in community strengths.

    The Specialist works collaboratively with the Program Manager and team to implement high-quality programming aligned with organizational priorities and capacity.

    Core Responsibilities

    Early Learning Programming

    • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate learning activities for children ages 2–5 and their caregivers.
    • Lead Play & Learn groups mornings 4 days a week
    • Support implementation of First Relationships and other family-centered curricula.
    • Conduct child observations using approved developmental screening tools.
    • Provide culturally relevant guidance and educational resources to families.
    • Create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

    Aprendamos Juntos Class

    • Lead & Facilitate elementary students twice a week from 5:30 to 8:30 PM in the AJ program
    • Practice 4 main components in our Programs

    (1) Identity and pride,

    (2) Art and fun activities

    (3) Social-emotional approach

    (4) Practice and learn academic milestones

    • Organize the materials for the development of the activities according to program planning.
    • Provide a safe and enriching learning environment
    • Logistics of the program

    Family Engagement & Support

    • Build meaningful, strengths-based relationships with parents and caregivers.
    • Provide information and referrals to community resources as appropriate.
    • Support families in navigating early learning systems.
    • Maintain respectful communication with families of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
    • Experience working with diverse BIPOC communities, particularly Latin American families.
    • Maintain confidentiality of all participant information (FERPA & HIPAA)

    Program Administration & Documentation

    • Maintain accurate attendance, lesson plans, reports, and required documentation.
    • Assist with data collection and surveys in alignment with funder requirements.
    • Track program participation and submit reports within established timelines.
    • Use basic technology platforms (Google Workspace, data systems, etc.).

    Administrative responsibilities will remain aligned with early learning program needs and organizational capacity.

    Team Participation

    • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, site meetings, and professional development.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to improve program quality.
    • Support volunteers and staff as needed.
    • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding program needs and workload.

    Evening and weekend participation may be required for specific scheduled events, with advance notice whenever possible.

    Required Knowledge & Skills

    • Knowledge of early childhood development (birth–5 years).
    • Understanding of culturally responsive family engagement practices.
    • Ability to manage group facilitation and classroom environments.
    • Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish (bilingual required).
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Basic proficiency in Google Workspace and data entry systems.
    • The ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Services, or related field (preferred). Equivalent experience considered.
    • 3–5 years of experience in early childhood or family services.
    • Experience working with Latin American families and immigrant communities.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    Schedule

    • Monday–Friday, standard daytime hours.
    • Occasional evenings or weekends for scheduled events.
    • Schedule adjustments will be communicated in advance and coordinated with the supervisor.
