    Ashiyanaa (formerly ASHA for Women) — Washington, D.C. Metro Area (Hybrid, 2 days/week in office)

    About Ashiyanaa

    Ashiyanaa is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1989 providing culturally-competent support to South Asian women, children, and families impacted by domestic violence. We serve individuals with origins in Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

    Position Overview

    Ashiyanaa is seeking a full-time permanent Senior Case Worker who will report to the Client Relations Manager. The responsible person will provide trauma- informed advocacy, intervention, and support to South Asian individuals and families. The ideal candidate will have a passion for Ashiyanaa’s mission and the interpersonal and communication skills to maintain collaborative relationships with the Board, staff, and volunteers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • As a Senior Case Worker the position will oversee the overall coordination of daily client services activities.
    • Complete intake and assess needs for appropriate intervention and referrals.
    • Provide comprehensive case management, including crisis intervention when necessary.
    • Schedule regular, consistent meetings with clients for reassessment,
    • updates, follow-ups, and ongoing emotional support.
    • Identify barriers to success and offer tools, resources, and guidance to help clients overcome these challenges.
    • Develop and evaluate personalized safety plans for clients.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for in-house case management, advocating for clients and assisting them in navigating communityresources.
    • Foster a safe, non-judgmental, and empowering environment for clients under care.
    • Refer clients to appropriate community organizations and resources.
    • Conduct home visits when required to ensure ongoing support. Provide guidance and support to families in need.
    • Schedule and escort clients to necessary appointments, including court hearings, legal aid sessions, counseling, and medical visits.

    Administration and Teamwork

    • Maintain accurate client records in accordance with agency policies and state confidentiality laws, documenting progress and updates in the case management software, in a timely, comprehensive manner.
    • Maintain and update client resources and be the primary point of contact for current resources by maintaining a network of resources in collaboration with the volunteer coordinator.
    • Follow established protocols and prepare reports as needed for supervisors and the board.
    • Utilize and interpret data collaboratively, address challenges and develop creative and culturally responsive approaches.
    • Participates in professional development to ensure best practices. Provide educational resources to staff and volunteer advocates.
    • Work with volunteers and advocates to promote an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration to accomplish Ashiyanaa’s mission, including outreach/fundraising events.
    • Periodically serve as speaker representing Ashiyanaa, particularly at events related to client issues.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field with 3–5 years of relevant experience; OR
    • Bachelor’s degree in a matching field with 5+ years of progressive case management experience.
    • Familiarity with the needs of South Asian communities; prior work experience with seniors, youth and children, and/or crisis intervention is desirable.
    • Must be socially perceptive to work with individuals who have difficulty expressing their needs.
    • Knowledge of crisis-intervention methodologies.
    • Must be organized and practical.
    • Proven coordination skills to connect individuals/families with relevant services.
    • Ability to compromise, negotiate, and work well with others.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Excel.
    • Must have a dependable automobile with valid driver’s license and current insurance coverage.
    • Authorized to work and live in the US.

    Work Location & Schedule

    • Format: Hybrid position.
    • Core Hours: Regular schedule during standard business hours (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
    • On-Site Requirement: Two days per week in the D.C. metropolitan office (subject to change based on organizational needs and Board parameters).
    • Flexibility: Willingness to attend conferences, evening programs, and weekend community outreach events as needed.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • Type: Full-time, Exempt position.
    • Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience.
    • Leave: 15 Paid Time Off (PTO) days per year (for vacation and personal use) plus 10 Federal holidays.
    • Health Insurance Reimbursement: Health insurance premium reimbursement of $3,000 per year.
