    The Position

    CTData is seeking an enthusiastic person who loves data, believes in our mission, and wants to grow within our organization to join our team as a Mixed Methods Research Analyst. The Mixed Methods Research Analyst will contribute to qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis across multiple projects, including a program evaluation, a statewide survey, an organizational impact analysis, and other applied research projects.

    The Mixed Methods Research Analyst will work closely with the Director of Research to:

    • Conduct mission-driven and client-based research and data analysis projects using public data, administrative records, surveys, and focus groups to inform policies, programs, and services in Connecticut
    • Develop qualitative data collection protocols, including focus group and interview protocols
    • Conduct focus groups and interviews
    • Develop qualitative data coding schemes
    • Code and analyze qualitative data using NVivo
    • Clean, process and analyze quantitative data using Excel, R, and/or Python
    • Summarize findings in clear and concise writing for print, web, and other formats
    • Create accessible and professional data visualizations in Datawrapper, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Draft research reports, analytical briefs, blog posts, and presentations that are accessible to a wide audience

    This position can be primarily remote, although occasional travel within Connecticut will be required. The successful applicant must live in Connecticut or be willing to relocate to Connecticut.

    What We’re Looking For

    • A master’s or doctoral degree in a social science field (e.g., sociology, public policy, public health, psychology, human development, demography, economics)
    • Experience with qualitative data collection and analysis
    • Some experience with programming / writing code for data processing or analysis – ideally experience with R
    • Experience using Excel, R, and/or Python to analyze quantitative data
    • Experience with report-writing
    • Strong writing skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills
    • High attention to detail
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members and outside organizations
    • Commitment to CTData’s mission
    • Living in or willing to move to Connecticut

    Nice to Have

    • Survey design experience
    • Experience conducting statistical analyses
    • Social science research background
    • Experience communicating research findings to a general audience in both written reports and public presentations
    • Substantive expertise in early childhood, housing policy, education, health equity, social equity, economics, demography, or a related field
    • Familiarity with Census Bureau data (e.g., ACS, Decennial Census) or other public data in Connecticut

    Benefícios

    • This is an exempt, salaried full-time position with an annual base salary of $67,000 to $77,000.
    • CTData promotes a hybrid work policy with an office space in Hartford, CT. However, this position can be primarily remote with occasional travel within CT.
    • 35-hour work week with a flexible work schedule
    • 2 weeks of paid vacation time in the first year of employment (increasing to 3 weeks after 2 years of employment)
    • 10 paid holidays plus one for your birthday
    • Office is closed the week between December 25th and January 1st
    • 3 personal days per year
    • Accrual of 1 day of paid sick time per month
