    Descrição

Advance the case for alternative proteins, foster key relationships, and help change how meat is made

The Good Food Institute (GFI) is a nonprofit think tank working to make the global food system better for the planet, people, and animals. Alongside scientists, businesses, and policymakers, GFI’s teams focus on making plant-based, fermentation-derived, and cultivated meat delicious, affordable, and accessible. Powered by philanthropy, GFI is an international network of organizations advancing alternative proteins as an essential solution needed to meet the world’s climate, global health, food security, and biodiversity goals.

How you will make a difference

You will work closely with GFI co-founder and President Bruce Friedrich and external partners to further the case for alternative proteins as a key intervention that can mitigate the many harms caused by industrial animal agriculture, including climate change, biodiversity loss, antimicrobial resistance, pandemic risk, and global hunger. This position focuses on advancing defined priorities and ensuring continuity during a temporary coverage period rather than setting long-term organizational strategy. The Thought Leadership and Partnerships Advisor will be responsible for:

    • Supporting and coordinating key projects to advance thought leadership priorities for the organization, including coordinating with external co-authors to finalize, submit, and promote academic research papers on pandemic risk, antimicrobial resistance, and conservation.
    • Collaborating with internal and external partners to plan virtual and in-person convenings and presentations on alternative proteins as a high impact intervention to mitigate climate change, promote conservation, and meet global health goals.
    • Reviewing and synthesizing important external reports, articles, and studies to support internal GFI decision-making, strategy, and communications (see here, here, and here for examples).
    • Orchestrating and/or participating in stakeholder meetings with or at the direction of the President, including with policymakers, philanthropic foundations, NGOs, and other individuals or organizations.
    • Acting as a thought partner and analytical resource to the President as GFI explores new ideas and initiatives, including facilitating the rapid collection and analysis of high-level data and trends to support the organization’s awareness and understanding of emerging hot topics, as well as of potential donors, governmental entities, NGOs, etc.
    • Consulting with internal experts to ensure the accuracy of information and messaging.
    • Performing any other duties as assigned.

    Who we’re looking for

An ideal candidate for the Thought Leadership and Partnerships Advisor (temporary) position will have experience that reflects the following:

    • At least 3 years of related experience, ideally in policy, strategy, or operations work.
    • Exemplary written and oral communication skills and interpersonal savvy.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational aptitude (capacity to juggle multiple projects simultaneously & with transparent project management).
    • Experience, skill, and comfort collaborating, and delegating responsibilities upwards, laterally, and to external stakeholders.
    • Comfort working with diverse teams of global stakeholders.
    • Resourcefulness, emotional intelligence, self-motivation, a passion for outreach, strong writing and editing ability, and analytical skills.
    • Self-motivation and the ability to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
    • Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity, and trust.
    • A commitment to fostering a work environment that is respectful, supportive, fair, and welcoming to all.
    • Strong support for GFI’s philosophy and mission; demonstrated interest (and ideally direct work or academic experience) in plant-based & other alt proteins, public health, environmentalism, climate change, or hunger relief.
    • A commitment to GFI’s values: believe change is possible, do the most good we can, share knowledge freely, act on evidence, and invite everyone to the table.

GFI wants the best people and is committed to a fair hiring process. We use a third-party anonymizing tool to redact personal information from submitted applications — including name, location, contact details, and several other factors — to increase fairness in our process. We also prioritize an inclusive work environment absent of discrimination and harassment during the application process and after you join the team. People of every race, color, orientation, age, gender, origin, and ability are encouraged to apply.

If you are passionate about GFI’s mission, think you have what it takes to be successful in this position, and meet many of the job requirements — even if you don’t check all the boxes — please apply. We’d appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
