    Camp Manager – Lions Camps at Teresita Pines

    Wrightwood, CA | Full-Time | Onsite Housing Provided

    Lions Camps at Teresita Pines is seeking a full-time, year-round Camp Manager to lead daily operations at our ACA-accredited, non-profit, non-denominational camp located in the mountains of Southern California, in Wrightwood, CA—within reach of Los Angeles, the coast, and the desert.

    Our mission is to provide beautiful mountain facilities for group camping while emphasizing access and affordability for organizations serving people with disabilities, including campers who are blind, deaf, autistic, or living with chronic health conditions. The Camp Manager plays a central role in stewarding this mission while ensuring safe, welcoming, and well-run camp operations year-round.

    This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing facilities, hospitality, staff supervision, program support, budgeting, and regulatory compliance, while working closely with an engaged Board of Directors.

    Salary starts at $60,000, with on-site housing provided (suitable for an individual, couple, or small family). Transition support and training with the outgoing Camp Manager is available.

    Position Summary

    The Camp Manager leads all operations at Lions Camps at Teresita Pines, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong staff leadership, safe and efficient facilities, and positive community and donor relationships. This role oversees daily operations, budgeting, program coordination, food service, maintenance oversight, staff development, and compliance with regulatory agencies including ACA, County Health, Cal/OSHA, and the U.S. Forest Service. The Camp Manager serves as the primary steward of the camp’s mission and culture.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Operations & Guest Services (30%)

      • Oversee all day-to-day camp operations, ensuring excellent guest service, clean facilities, and a welcoming environment.
      • Ensure safety and compliance with ACA standards, County Health requirements, Cal/OSHA, and U.S. Forest Service regulations.
      • Provide oversight of food service operations, including menu planning, dietary accommodations, ordering, and kitchen support.
      • Partner with the Facilities Manager to maintain grounds, cabins, utilities, vehicles, and emergency systems.
      • Ensure program areas operate safely with properly trained and certified staff.
      • Review and manage group contracts, certificates of insurance, deposits, and scheduling.
      • Maintain accurate calendars, records, and operational documentation.

    Staff Leadership & Supervision (25%)

      • Directly supervise the Facilities Manager, Lead Cooks, Administrative Assistant, Program Lead, and Aquatics Supervisor.
      • Indirectly supervise all seasonal and program staff through department leads.
      • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate staff.
      • Foster strong morale, communication, and alignment with camp values and standards.
      • Conduct regular staff meetings and individual check-ins.
      • Provide leadership presence during evenings and weekends as needed.

    Financial Management (15%)

      • Develop and manage the annual operating budget.
      • Monitor expenses, track revenue, and provide regular financial updates.
      • Ensure fiscal responsibility within Board-approved parameters.
      • Oversee purchasing processes and vendor relationships.

    Program Oversight & Community Engagement (10%)

      • Support and guide camp programming in collaboration with the Program Lead and Aquatics Supervisor.
      • Build positive relationships with guest groups, Lions Clubs, volunteers, and community partners.
      • Lead annual events such as Work Weekend and Open House.
      • Represent the camp at community presentations and outreach events.
      • Assist the Board with outreach to mission-aligned user groups.

    Administration & Board Relations (10%)

      • Implement Board policies, goals, and procedures.
      • Provide monthly reports, updates, and recommendations to the Board.
      • Maintain group records, contracts, certificates of insurance, staff files, and camp documentation.
      • Participate in strategic planning and long-term facility and program improvements.

    Risk Management & Safety (10%)

      • Maintain oversight of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and general safety protocols.
      • Conduct or oversee regular safety trainings and emergency drills.
      • Ensure safety procedures are followed across all program, kitchen, maintenance, and guest areas.
      • Promote a culture of safety, preparedness, and risk awareness.

    Required Qualifications

      • 5+ years of experience in camp administration, hospitality, outdoor education, or facility management.
      • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
      • Experience managing budgets and operational systems.
      • Knowledge of safety standards, compliance processes, and emergency procedures.
      • Ability to live onsite and provide on-call support as needed.
      • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.

    Preferred Qualifications

      • Experience working in nonprofit organizations.
      • Experience working with people of all ages with disabilities.
      • Experience supervising diverse teams across multiple departments.
      • Familiarity with accreditation processes, county health inspections, and program safety certifications.

    Compensation & Benefits

      • Salary starting at $60,000 (final compensation determined by the Board).
      • Onsite housing provided as part of the role (suitable for an individual, couple, or small family).
      • Utilities, meals during group events, and use of camp amenities included.
      • Transition support and training with the outgoing Camp Manager.
