    Hybrid Position

    Location: Kingston, NY

    Position Type: Part-Time (30 Hours per Week) | Seasonal (Mid-April to Mid-November)

    Reports To: Green Jobs Manager Lauren Hollick

    About the Program:

    The Empower Kingston Green Jobs Workforce Program is dedicated to equipping local workers with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the green economy. Through training, workforce development, and partnerships with local contractors, the program aims to create a sustainable and inclusive job pipeline in the Kingston area.

    Position Overview:

    The Program Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Empower Kingston Green Jobs Workforce Program by supporting the Green Jobs Manager in administrative, logistical, and program coordination tasks. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with program participants, contractors, and stakeholders. The Program Assistant will also contribute to outreach and program visibility through social media content creation and on-site documentation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Program Coordination Support

    • Assist the Green Jobs Manager in day-to-day operations and administrative tasks
    • Help organize and facilitate meetings/orientations for new trainees and contractors
    • Take notes of trainee interviews recording applicant responses, take notes during reference checks and recording responses
    • Maintain accurate records and track program progress
    • Help organize supplies in storage unit and pack supplies/tools for apprentices

    Document and Management & Organization

    • Organize and maintain program documents, including applications, trainee records, contractor agreements, and compliance paperwork.
    • Populate and update program documents, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
    • Collect, sort, and analyze information from trainee applications and contractor feedback forms.

    Social Media & Outreach

    • Create engaging social media content using Canva and other tools to highlight program activities, success stories, and job site progress
    • Collaborate on the making of promotional materials, flyers, and digital content to support program outreach efforts

    On-Site Visits & Documentation

    • Visit job sites to take photos and document trainee progress, contractor partnerships, and project milestones
    • Gather visual and written content to be used in reports, social media, and promotional materials

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Strong organizational and administrative skills with keen attention to detail
    • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive) and Zoom
    • Experience using Canva or similar design platforms for creating social media content
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Focusing on respect and transparency
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
    • Comfortable taking photos and videos for program documentation and promotional use
    • Interest in workforce development, sustainability, and environmental initiatives is a plus

    Additional Qualifications

    This position is hosted through the NYSERDA Clean Energy Internship for the first 4 months. You will need to be approved by NYSERDA to be hired for this position. To be eligible for the program, you must qualify as at least one of the following:

    • An individual currently attending or who attended a degree program at a college or university, located in New York State within the last 12 months as of the date of the intern application.
    • A current New York State resident attending or who attended a college or university outside of New York State within the last 12 months as of the date of the intern application. New York State residency, with proof of residency such as rental agreement or utility bills, must have been established prior to the start of the internship.
    • New York State residents who are members of a disadvantaged community and/or priority population. (Most of Kingston is categorized as a disadvantaged community)
    • Applicants must not be previously employed by Communities for Local Power, which includes previous Empower Kingston alumni.

    Work Environment & Schedule

    • Hybrid part-time position working in Google Suite, Canva, and over Zoom meetings
    • In-person work includes in-person interviews at Co-Work Kingston, helping lead occasional orientations, attending end of program breakfasts, and job site visits. Job site visits will be a regular part of the role, requiring occasional travel in and around Kingston.

    Compensation & Benefits

    $25/hr at 30 hours a week, starting April 7th and ending November 6th
