    Summary:

    Candidates with solid writing, analytical, administration and communications skills are invited to apply for a full-time Program Associate position in the Charity Accountability Program of the Metro NY Better Business Bureau Education and Research Foundation. This is an entry-level position.

    Responsibilities include:

    • BBB Charity Reports – Handling receipt of charity information and follow-up functions, completing charity evaluations, helping create and proofread BBB Charity reports, and performing quality control.
    • Communicating with charities – Fielding inquiries via phone, video call and email about the Charity Accountability Program, e-mailing monthly report development invitations, and performing outreach and relationship development tasks. Tasks may also involve drafting articles for our BBB Foundation’s newsletter.
    • Data management – Updating and maintaining data across internal and online platforms with strong attention to data quality.
    • Intern program – Organizing and co-leading intern training and recruitment, preparing intern materials, and helping to supervise 2-4 interns per semester (Spring, Summer, Fall).
    • Additional tasks - May include participation in conferences, exhibits, career sessions, and other public events, online or in-person as feasible; occasional public speaking; helping to plan, staff and execute programs and events, as needed; and other general office work and projects as assigned.

    Candidates should have strong internet research skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and prior experience with using databases; clear written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills and speaking ability; email and phone etiquette; facility with numbers; strong organizational and record-keeping skills; willingness to ask questions; and the ability to manage details effectively. College degree and prior office experience are preferred. Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of nonprofit work is strongly preferred. We will train. This full-time position will primarily be virtual but may occasionally involve in-person meetings in our Manhattan office as well as in-person staffing at BBB Foundation events and nonprofit conferences.

    Familiarity with and understanding of nonprofit financial statements is an advantage but not required. Bilingual English-Spanish fluency is helpful but not required.
