    Database Specialist

    Organization Overview

    UnLocal, Inc. is a community-centered non-profit organization that provides direct immigration legal representation and community education to New York City’s immigrant communities. Our Legal team uses a comprehensive approach to advocacy, combining consultations, representation, training, and outreach to support impacted community members.

    Position Summary:

    UnLocal is seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Part-Time Database Specialist to manage, maintain, and optimize our LegalServer case management system. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate data collection, reporting, and system functionality that supports our legal and advocacy work. The ideal candidate will have experience with LegalServer or similar case management systems and a strong background in data analysis, system customization, and user support, as well as using data to tell a story with a social justice lens. This position will begin part-time and may evolve into a full-time role depending on performance. This position reports to the Executive Director.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the point person for LegalServer maintenance, customization, and user support.
    • Customize forms, workflows, and fields in LegalServer to align with program and reporting needs.
    • Create and manage reports and dashboards for internal use and grant reporting.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through routine audits and quality assurance checks.
    • Collaborate with program and administrative teams to identify data and reporting needs.
    • Train and support staff on effective use of LegalServer, including documentation and troubleshooting.
    • Maintain system documentation, including change logs, user guides, and reporting protocols.
    • Coordinate with LegalServer support and vendors for troubleshooting and implementation of updates or integrations.
    • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security protocols.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Proven experience using LegalServer or similar systems.
    • Experience customizing and configuring LegalServer or similar systems (e.g., forms, fields, reports).
    • Strong proficiency in data management and reporting.
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or other reporting/analysis tools.
    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
    • Prior experience working with nonprofits, legal service organizations, or in a legal setting using data to tell a story with a social justice lens is preferred.
    • Experience with Data Visualization.

    Preferred Skills:

    • Knowledge of APIs and data export processes.
    • Familiarity with other case management platforms or CRMs.
    • Understanding of grant reporting and compliance requirements.
    • Familiarity with legal services workflows and client intake processes is a plus.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • $30-35 per hour (Depending on Experience)
    • 10 Days of sick leave
    • Commuter Benefits ($20 per month reimbursement)

    This position primarily involves sedentary work, including extended periods of sitting, use of a computer, and communication via phone and video conferencing. Travel will be required for funder outreach or partner meetings. Position frequently moves items of up to 10 pounds across the office or into off-site locations.
