Fractional Development Director (Consultant)

Catholics for Choice amplifies the voices of the pro-choice Catholic majority and counters Catholic institutional overreach around reproductive freedom. We encounter, educate, and embolden pro-choice Catholics nationwide — shifting public perception, organizing advocates, and strengthening the broader reproductive rights movement.

Catholics for Choice seeks an experienced senior development professional to serve as a part-time, fractional Development Director. This is a time-limited consulting engagement focused on building the infrastructure, team, systems, and operating practices needed for a strong and sustainable development program — and on preparing CFC for the successful recruitment and transition of a permanent senior development leader. The fractional Development Director reports to and partners closely with the Co-President for Programs & Development. This is a strategy, systems, and capacity-building role; it does not involve frontline fundraising or managing a personal portfolio of donor relationships.

What you'll focus on

• Assessing the current development operation and setting clear priorities and a realistic work plan.
• Strengthening development systems, workflows, documentation, and management practices.
• Advising on major-gifts strategy, moves management, and donor-pipeline practices, in support of the Co-President.
• Building administrative capacity and helping design the development team's near- and long-term structure.
• Supporting the fall annual giving campaign.
• Helping define, recruit, and transition the permanent senior development leader.

Who we're looking for

• A senior development leader with substantial experience building and leading major-gifts-focused nonprofit development programs, plus institutional fundraising oversight.
• Demonstrated experience designing development systems, management practices, and team structures.
• Comfort moving between strategic advising and hands-on implementation.
• The ability to establish credibility quickly in a remote organization.
• Interim or fractional development leadership experience is a plus.

Engagement details

• Part-time, fully remote (U.S.).
• Approximately six to nine months, beginning early fall 2026.
• CFC is open to hourly, monthly retainer, or fixed-fee proposals.
