RideWise Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Somerville committed to promoting safe and sustainable travel, is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Marketing and Communications Coordinator. This role is primarily responsible for developing content for social media, email newsletters, the website, and press releases. Additional duties include photography, data collection, database management, and support for community events.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this position collaborates with other team members to communicate programs and activities clearly and effectively. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional writing and grammar skills and the ability to engage a range of audiences. This position is a strong entry point for someone looking to starting a career in the nonprofit sector. It offers hands-on experience across a range of activities, with a focus on public education, community engagement, safety, and sustainability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Website content
- Social media content
- Electronic newsletter
- Photography/photo editing
- Manage/maintain contact databases
- Participate in safety/educational events
Work is performed in the organization’s Somerville office Monday through Friday, with some weekends, evenings, and early morning hours. This is a full-time, hourly position. Overtime is not required.
The ideal candidate is skilled in organizing, planning, and managing multiple tasks and deadlines independently. Essential skills include:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations or a related field
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and the ability to use standard office equipment (phone, printer, photocopiers)
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience with website and e-marketing software (WordPress & Benchmark preferred) and social media platforms.
- Strong creative, analytical, organizational and personal skills.
- Demonstrated experience creating print and electronic communications, including press releases, newsletters (print and electronic), website and social media content.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to give presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to attend events which may be in the early morning/early evening or occasionally on weekends.
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license for attendance at meetings and events.
- Nonprofit experience a plus
- Familiarity with Somerset County is preferred
