Description:
The Community Energy Advisor (CEA) will provide assistance, education, and support in both English and Spanish to homeowners and renters—particularly in low-to-moderate income and priority communities—on implementing clean energy solutions for their homes.
Key Responsibilities:
The CEA will work with Sustainable Westchester and the Mid Hudson Regional Clean Energy Hub team to:
- Drive adoption of energy efficiency and clean energy programs through outreach and education (including workshops, public events, energy kit sessions, etc.) in support of NYS energy efficiency and clean energy programs;
- Support residents and building owners in Westchester County with an interest in energy efficiency and clean energy upgrades via phone and email support, application assistance, project status tracking, and effective communication between clients and contractors;
- Become and serve as subject matter resource and respond to questions about the NYSERDA Regional Clean Energy Hub Program;
- Track and communicate updates on clean energy rebate and incentive models, including NYSERDA and NYS Clean Heat programs;
- Contribute to the development of positive relationships with stakeholders, partnering agencies, organizations, and community leaders;
- Respond to information requests and provide general information to stakeholders and the public regarding energy issues;
- Collaborate with marketing to develop outreach strategies and materials that apply subject matter expertise to engage priority audiences, including non-English-speaking communities.
- Contribute input into the planning of all programs to consider the needs of diverse program participants;
- Conduct monthly Salesforce reporting on project updates, outreach and engagement opportunities, and accomplishments.
- Providing outreach support to other Sustainable Westchester programs.
Qualifications:
- This is an entry-level role with no prior professional experience required.
- Fluency in Spanish is required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to engage with diverse communities.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Thrives in dynamic settings and can adapt to shifting priorities.
- Willingness to attend events during evenings and weekends.
- Proficient in standard office applications, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
- Quick to absorb new information and able to convey ideas clearly through spoken, written, and visual formats.
- Capable of juggling long-term initiatives alongside day-to-day responsibilities—skilled at prioritizing, organizing, and meeting tight deadlines.
- Able to lift and move up to 40 pounds of materials to multiple locations within Westchester County.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable, fully insured vehicle.
