    Descrição

Health Resources in Action, Inc. (HRiA) is a non-profit organization working to improve and reimagine public health. We connect, consult, and collaborate to solve complex challenges of access and equity in our health and social systems. Together with our partners, clients, and collaborators, we create actionable solutions so that all people can thrive.

In 1957, The Medical Foundation (TMF) was created to primarily fund biomedical research in Massachusetts. Since then, we’ve been on a journey of evolution. We changed our name to Health Resources in Action (HRiA) to reflect our impact in the field of public health. Today, HRiA works with individuals, organizations, and communities to drive a policy and systems change approach to advance health and racial equity.

HRiA seeks sustainable solutions for complex problems using an anti-racist approach. We aim to be adaptable and flexible in meeting clients and partners where they are, offering our decades of knowledge and resources to collectively realize our dream of equitable, sustainable health for all. The foundation of this work is centered on our values:

    • Health and racial equity by identifying and addressing the root causes of health inequities, intentionally working to shift narratives and power imbalances and disrupt all systems of oppression.
    • Leading with heart by demonstrating our passionate commitment to our work, continuously challenging ourselves with humility and vulnerability while pursuing and holding ourselves accountable to our mission.
    • Collaboration by intentionally and respectfully leading, partnering, and following to strengthen relationships, uplift different voices and build trust.
    • Innovation by driving toward new strategies, questioning norms, and continuously learning and evolving to support the needs of our clients and communities.

HRiA offers exciting, engaging, and challenging employment opportunities for facilitators, trainers, researchers, analysts, policy specialists, grant managers, and more. People come to HRiA because of our commitment to advancing health equity and inspiring work; they stay for our wonderful clients, partners, and dedicated and dynamic staff. With our growing portfolio of high-impact work, person-centered policies, and generous benefits, our team continually invests in making HRiA a great place to work. Our diverse staff of over 270 people hail from 30+ states, with a home base in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood.

    Position Description

We are seeking a Manager, Youth Leadership Programs, who will support the delivery of two of HRiA’s youth development programs: The 84 Movement and the Leaders through Education, Action, and Hope (LEAH) Project.

This is a full-time role and the salary range for this role is $62,000 to $73,000 depending on skills and experience.

Given the in-person requirements of The 84 and the LEAH Project, the Manager must live in Massachusetts and will be expected to travel within Boston and the state on average 2-3x per week (at HRiA’s expense), with additional evenings and weekends as needed for youth meetings and events. The Manager will also have flexibility to work from home when not in person. This 1.0 FTE role is approximately 35 hours per week, with core availability during LEAH’s 10am–6pm operating hours and one weekly evening meeting for The 84’s Statewide Leadership Team (Tuesday’s 6-7pm); the remainder of the schedule can be flexed in collaboration with the supervisor and team.

    Brief Overview

The Manager will split their time across two major youth initiatives at HRiA:

    1. The 84 Movement – a statewide youth tobacco prevention initiative that engages middle school and high school youth to shift social norms around nicotine use, build leadership skills, and promote racial and health equity. Now in its 17th year, The 84 includes more than 80 Chapters with 1,000+ youth statewide and offers trainings, grants, and two annual youth-led events. The Manager will specifically support the Statewide Leadership Team (SLT) of 20 youth leaders by helping support the co-facilitation of weekly meetings and delivering trainings for Chapters in collaboration with the team.
    2. The LEAH Project – a paid, multi-track STEM workforce and college and career pathway that expands equitable access to high-growth STEM fields for Boston-area BIPOC high school students. LEAH combines paid internships, professional skill-building, mentorship, and post-secondary navigation to prepare young people for sustained success in STEM education and careers while strengthening the talent pipeline for Massachusetts employers and community partners. The Manager will oversee and support LEAH’s full portfolio of internship tracks, ensuring high-quality recruitment, training, placement, and youth development across programs.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about racial equity, public health, youth leadership, and STEM education.
