Part-Time Community Outreach and Marketing Coordinator

Restore Native Plants is an innovative nonprofit foundation focused on restoring the region’s native plant and animal species – many of which have become threatened and endangered. The foundation manages 216 acres of wildland in the New Jersey Highlands and has planted 71,739 native plants and removed 719,774 invasive plants since 2013.

The Community Outreach and Marketing Coordinator provides essential administrative support to the foundation director and founder in coordinating volunteer management and marketing communication. Volunteer management includes outreach, recruiting, event communication, and general program administration. Marketing communication includes primarily website maintenance and social media, with occasional creation of print communications such as signs, banners, and flyers. The coordinator will work directly with Restore Native Plant’s leadership team to ensure volunteer engagement and marketing communications support the foundation’s mission.

This position is part-time for approximately 15-20 hours per week; $16.50 to $18 an hour, starting salary.

  • Interview volunteer candidates, accessing their interests, availability, and commitment to Restore Native Plants’ mission.
  • Liaise with the leadership team to match volunteers with opportunities.

  • Create recruiting and recognition material as needed.
  • Manage Restore Native Plants’ presence on volunteer and college recruitment platforms such as Benevity and Handshake.
  • Represent the organization to the public, media, and other external stakeholders.

Marketing Communications

  • Website Management: Maintain and manage website content with external developers, focusing on accuracy, improvements, and user engagement.
  • Social Media: Manage social media presence to increase engagement with and support for Restore Native Plant’s mission.
  • Print Communications: Develop print materials like signs and flyers, coordinating printing with external vendors.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of volunteers and community organizations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Volunteer and/or project management experience.
  • Digital content/marketing experience, including familiarity with Canva, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, including Docs and Sheets.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills based on the organization's needs.
  • Comfortable in a collaborative work environment and ability to self-manage when working remotely.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the nonprofit foundation.
