GENERAL SUMMARY
Staff Nurse provides support and care to clients, and maintains professional standards of care, following the ANA Code of Ethics. Under the supervision of the Medical Director and Client Services Director, Staff Nurse is responsible for a variety of clinic functions, performing direct and indirect nursing interventions, is responsible for performing and monitoring the medical services provided by Options Clinic.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Management
- Executes clinic functions and monitors medical services and medical volunteers.
- Abides by clinic policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Monitors adherence of medical volunteers to above said policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Maintains a working knowledge of nursing methods, principles, and practices in relation to the prevention and treatment of disease, safety, infection control, clinical systems, emergency procedures, supplies, and equipment.
- Assures compliance with infection control guidelines.
- Performs patient follow-up calls.
Nursing Care
- Provides nursing services in the clinic, including pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, STI testing and treatment, and medical counseling.
- Provides nursing care: assess patient needs and make nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practices.
- Performs ultrasound examinations for clients and/or supervises other’s performing ultrasound exams.
- Maintains accurate records and care-plans.
- Provides education for patient and family.
- Executes patient follow-up per patient care-plan and standardized procedures.
- Assist in establishing, maintaining, and updating outside client resources and referrals.
Staff Development
- Participates in meetings as needed with medical and non-medical volunteer and staff.
Public Relations
- Occasionally represents the clinic in the community as delegated by the Executive Director.
- Attends medical conferences that offer professional training pertinent to the clinic’s practices.
Personal Development
- Maintains professional license and CPR certificate.
- Increases knowledge of obstetrical, and gynecological care, and women’s health issues.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
- Be an active participant in a local Christian church.
- Exhibit strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and sexual purity.
- Agree with and be willing to uphold the Statement of Principle, Statement of Faith, and policies of GHM.
- Must possess a current nursing license (RN) in good standing and functions in accordance with the licensing board of the state of Texas.
- Has a current CPR certificate.
- Demonstrates competent knowledge of women’s health issues and of the care for obstetrical and gynecological clients.
- Exhibits strong commitment and dedication to sexual purity.
- Has a desire to assist abortion-vulnerable and abortion-minded women.
- Believes in preserving human life and that it is sacred.
- Respects and upholds client and clinic confidentiality.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and administrative skills, teachable attitude, and functions well within a team environment.
- Must be willing to complete client advocate and Crisis Pregnancy training.
- Must be willing to complete ultrasound training course and required supervised scans overseen qualified trainers and approved by the Medical Director.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires reaching, bending and stretching. It requires sitting and typing on a keypad for extended periods of time and the ability to lift 25 pounds for a limited period of time. The majority of work involved in this position takes place indoors while there are moments of physical exertion related to the set-up and tear-down of special events.
