    Anthos|Home is an innovative nonprofit transforming the way New York City residents with housing subsidies locate and secure stable housing. Modeled after Brilliant Corners in California, Anthos|Home streamlines the apartment search, approval, and move-in processes while addressing gaps in the NYC voucher housing system. We aim to be a game-changer for New Yorkers who are unhoused or at risk of homelessness.

    The Role

    The Housing Acquisition Specialist will work in a team and report to the Housing Acquisition Supervisor. In this role, the Housing Acquisition Specialist will be focused on acquiring apartments and maintaining relationships with apartment owners, managers, brokers, and staff. The Housing Acquisition Specialist will be expected to think outside the box and identify barriers for landlords and residents and help develop solutions. This position will require someone to spend the majority of their time cultivating and maintaining relationships. Someone who loves working with people is essential.

    The team will have access to “Flex Pool” funding to support efforts to secure apartments. The housing acquisition department will “bank” apartments that meet standards required by the voucher system by offering support in securing units while a tenant is being matched to the unit. Critical to this role is advancing a customer services ethos that is responsive to the needs of landlords, brokers, and tenants.

    This position is essential to secure apartments for use by Anthos|Home.

    Key responsibilities include the ability to:

    • Identify/Secure appropriate rental housing throughout New York City.
    • Generate and utilize leasing instruments leads via phone, internet, social media, in-person, and/or canvassing.
    • Market and network Anthos|Home incentives to prospective landlords, property managers, and associations.
    • Provide and maintain account management, continuous support to property providers and nurture repeat business opportunities.
    • Maintain and update thorough and accurate lead/property data within the internal database system.
    • Conduct housing quality inspections as needed and advise property providers of any deficiencies to correct or resolve violations.
    • Work closely with the Tenant Housing Coordination, Operations, and Tenant Aftercare Teams
    • Perform other duties as needed and assigned

    Qualifications and Skills

    The Housing Acquisition Specialist must be a people person who loves working with others and solving problems. Bachelor’s degree is preferred, if not 3 years or more of experience working with people in the housing and human service sector is required. Experience in real estate, specifically property management is highly desired, but not required.

    Additional Skills include:

    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Familiarity with the NYC housing market and voucher system
    • Excellent verbal, written, communication and negotiation skills
    • Willingness to travel and make multiple visits in the community
    • Ability to use public transportation or meet the same travel requirements with reasonable accommodation
    • Ability to ascend/descend stairs, as some work locations may not have accessibility to an elevator, or meet the same requirements with reasonable accommodation
    • Experience with community-based outreach
    • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills in decision-making situations, good organizational and record-keeping skills, and good independent judgment
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Passion for the mission of the organization
    • Ability to work in a diverse environment

    Work Environment

    • Competitive Pay $65,000- 70,000 starting salary (dependent on experience)
    • WFH/Hybrid work: 2-5 days may be required in the office or field each week
