    Position Summary

    The Senior Project Director, Operations will report to the Chief Operating Officer. This position will play a critical role within the Operations department, collaborating with department members and internal stakeholders across the organization to ensure timely, collaborative, and cost-effective administration. The successful candidate will exercise a high degree of organization and skill in leading the development of systems, policies, and process improvements across the organization. They will provide support to AU's departments and ensure coordination and alignment in the implementation of operational protocols and procedures. The Senior Project Director, Operations will supervise the Operations Director.

    The position is full-time, exempt and is based in Washington, DC, with the option to work from home up to four days per week.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    • Lead efforts to improve the organization's technology infrastructure and identify opportunities to better leverage technology to support operations and internal communications
    • Serve as SharePoint administrator and work with departments to optimize their use of SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Suite, and other technologies
    • Identify opportunities for trainings on technology to support organizational needs and growth
    • Develop policies and protocols on the use of artificial intelligence in organizational workflows
    • Lead the development of a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy for the organization
    • Oversee vendor operations, including the implementation of AU's diverse vendor policy
    • Calculate annual salary increases according to AU's compensation program and ensure that increases are implemented accurately and communicated to staff
    • Work with other members of the operations team to maintain compliance in the states in which the organization does business
    • Manage projects to increase operational effectiveness, such as the development of a business continuity plan, implementation of new technologies, and changes to office space
    • Work with AU’s growing workforce to ensure familiarity with and consistent Implementation of organizational policies and protocols

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
    • Minimum 10 years of experience
    • Ability to develop and execute realistic project workplans that move projects and goals forward; project management certification a plus
    • Ability to work independently and identify opportunities for system and process improvements
    • Collaborative workstyle and openness to learning from different perspectives
    • Strong communicator orally and in writing
    • Tech savvy and proficient in both Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite; interest in using technology to enhance efficiency and productivity
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Compensation and Benefits

    The salary range for this position is $133,875-$160,650. This stated range includes a 5% locality pay adjustment for the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The successful candidate’s placement within that range will be consistent with AU’s compensation framework, which is based on years of related experience.
