    General Job Description:

    The Director of Fundraising at Faith In Action (FIA) leads the organization’s overall fundraising strategy, driving a robust, diversified revenue program that matches the scale of our mission. The Director will have an existing portfolio of relationships with program officers and philanthropic partners and will be responsible for generating additional revenue through traditional grants and individual donors.

    The Director will lead all aspects of development strategy including grants, individual donors, major gifts, institutional partnerships, planned giving, and digital fundraising. This leader will build and support a culture of fundraising across the network, strengthen systems and staff capacity, and develop new pathways for sustainable growth including a multi-tiered individual donor program and annual giving programs.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for engaging with foundations and institutional donors (past and present) to secure funding aligned with FIA's programs and priorities.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s mission, national organizing priorities, and long-term growth goals.
    • Lead an integrated revenue plan that includes foundation grants, individual giving, corporate partnerships, and grassroots donor engagement.
    • Build a strong, organization-wide culture of fundraising by mobilizing staff, board members, and federations as active partners in donor engagement
    • Research and identify prospective foundation partners, build strong relationships, and maintain regular communication to drive grant opportunities and funding partnerships.
    • Lead the grant proposal and application process, ensuring alignment with donor requirements, and oversee the development of compelling proposals and reports.
    • Supervise the Associate Director of Fundraising’s work overseeing all aspects of Faith in Action’s grants, managing grants through their lifecycle and ensuring proper due diligence for all grants, including financial monitoring.
    • Supervise the Sen. Fundraising Program Manager whose role is to support the management of Faith in Action’s Foundation grants with a focus on cultivating Funder Prospects and Stewardship.
    • Collaborate with program leaders and department heads to align funding needs with programmatic goals, ensuring effective grant implementation and compliance
    • Provide training/support to staff who are expanding their role in fundraising
    • Collaborate with individual donor staff and Power Building membership program to grow Faith in Action’s relationships with individual donors, with a focus on collaborative fundraising with federations
    • Collaborate with the Power Building Department membership program to ensure effective collection of federation membership dues annually
    • Track and manage grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and financial deliverables, ensuring accurate and timely submission of grant-related documentation.
    • Prepare and present persuasive pitches, presentations, and impact reports to potential and existing foundation partners.
    • Stay informed about trends, policies, and best practices in foundation fundraising and philanthropy to optimize FIA's funding strategies.
    • Up to 25-50% travel required
    • Perform additional responsibilities consistent with the role in alignment with organizational priorities.

    Qualifications & Training:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
    • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive fundraising and development experience in a nonprofit setting, preferably within organizing, advocacy, or movement-based organizations.
    • Demonstrated success raising significant revenue across foundations, major gifts, individual donors, and corporate partners.
    • Existing portfolio of relationships with national foundation program officers and institutional funders.
    • Strong expertise in donor research, relationship management, and long-term revenue planning.
    • Proven ability to lead fundraising at scale and build a culture of shared responsibility for fundraising across an organization.
    • Additionally, a deep understanding and focus on donor relations and stewardship community organizing, campaign management, or related roles within a nonprofit or advocacy organization.
    • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience in guiding and developing teams or networks of organizers.
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, capable of engaging diverse communities and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in project management, data analysis, and program evaluation methodologies.
    • Commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusivity, aligned with FIA's mission and values.
