    Who we Seek

    La Casa de Don Pedro seeks a Housing Services Coordinator who will support the Managing Director in assisting with the day-to-day administration and operations of the Community Empowerment pillar. To be successful in this role, the Housing Services Coordinator should be knowledgeable with HUD Guidelines & Medicaid Housing Supports procedures. The Housing Services Coordinator should have an understanding of federal and state housing regulations, team leadership skills, and passionate about serving the Greater Newark community. The Housing Services Coordinator will serve as an integral member of the Community Empowerment team and will contribute to the overall efficiency of La Casa de Don Pedro by providing personalized and timely support.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversees the day-by-day operations of the Housing Services Unit.
    • Supervises the Housing team comprised of HUD-Certified Housing Counselors, Case Managers, and other personnel related to housing services.
    • Produces and submits program reports to the Managing Director for review. Once approved, submits reports to appropriate funders.
    • Works collaboratively with fiscal department to ensure financial reports are submitted to Managing Director for review. Once approved, ensures fiscal department submits reports to appropriate funders.
    • Creates standard operating procedures (SOP), which include program guidelines, outreach procedures, eligibility requirements, direct services, and follow-up with constituents.
    • Coordinates and leads bi-weekly case conferences with the Housing Team to discuss program outcomes, updates, etc.
    • Triages internal and external referrals to direct reports
    • Ensures participant files adhere to organizational and funders' guidelines.
    • Establishes partnerships and relationships with community landlords, lenders, banks, realtors and other professionals to develop referral sources for home buyers.
    • Leads, coordinates, and facilitates workshops in the areas of Foreclosure Prevention, First Time Homebuyer classes and Financial Literacy counseling.
    • Works jointly with other departments to link clients to other La Casa de Don Pedro available resources.
    • Represents the organization at meetings, conferences and summits related to housing counseling, foreclosure, evictions, etc.
    • Provides Continuous Quality Improvement to service delivery and evaluation.
    • Maintains, reviews, and monitors multiple customer relationship management (CRM) systems; such as HMIS, Counselor Max, and Apricot360.

    Educational, Required Skills and Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelor Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Economics, Business or related field or two (2) years of experience working in creating housing stability plans and (2) years of experience working with people in need of assistance.
    • Comprehensive understanding of federal and state housing regulations, including HUD guidelines, Medicaid Housing Supports, 1115 Waiver and Fair Housing Act.
    • HUD Housing Counselor Certified or the ability to obtain HUD Housing Counselor Certification within 180 days of hire.
    • Must have working knowledge and ability to navigate amongst multiple software platforms; such as fiscal, CRM, and governmental platforms.
    • Experience with Rental Topics, Eviction Prevention and HUD Housing Counseling.
    • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and community members representing diverse communities.
    • Be able to work within a team structure, negotiate, and manage conflicts.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust with diverse populations.
    • Detail oriented with the ability to organize complex material in a clear and concise manner.
    • Ability to structure and convey information for a large group in a manner that is engaging and approachable.
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
    • Computer Skills and knowledgeable in use of Microsoft 365.
    • Must be able to travel for professional development trainings and conferences.

    • Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs or ladders if necessary.

    Compensation, Schedule, and Other Information:

    • Employment type: Full Time
    • FLSA status: Exempt
    • SOC code: 21-1000
    • Reports to: Managing Director
    • Schedule: Monday – Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm. Ability to work evenings, weekends and when necessary to attend community meetings and events.
    • Compensation: Annual salary of $65,000
