    FLSA: Salaried, exempt, $80,000 annually

    Salary is non-negotiable

    Hours: Full Time, Monday - Friday, In person (40 hours),

    Occasional weekends

    (ANV runs Saturday programming in Spring and Fall)

    Organization Overview

    Acta Non Verba: Youth Urban Farm Project (ANV) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to elevate life for youth and their families in Oakland and beyond by challenging oppressive dynamics and environments through urban farming and access to the natural environment. Founded and led primarily by women and People of Color, ANV creates safe, creative outdoor spaces where youth engage in food production, environmental education, and youth leadership development.

    Position Summary

    Camp ANV

    • Provide strategic and operational leadership for all aspects of day camp operations, including programming, food service, health services, finance, risk management, and administrative systems.
    • Set vision, goals, and performance standards for camp operations in alignment with organizational mission, youth development best practices, and community needs.
    • Direct and supervise department leads and staff, including food service and health services leadership, ensuring strong team performance, accountability, and professional development.
    • Oversee development and execution of high-quality, developmentally appropriate camp programs that meet the needs of diverse youth populations.
    • Lead organizational risk management, crisis response planning, and health and safety compliance across all camp operations.
    • Ensure long-term sustainability through oversight of financial management, budgeting, record keeping, and efficient office systems.
    • Guide data systems and reporting processes, ensuring accurate, secure, and effective management of camper, family, and staff information.
    • Establish systems for continuous improvement by soliciting, analyzing, and applying feedback from youth, families, and staff.
    • Maintain organizational compliance with ACA accreditation standards and lead accreditation processes, documentation, and external communications.
    • Represent the camp in external partnerships, funder meetings, and public forums, including OUSD Summer Learning Director and youth program grant meetings.
    • Foster strong collaboration across internal teams and with external partners to advance program quality, equity, and operational excellence.
    • Supervise program staff and team leads, ensuring alignment with program goals, youth development principles, and organizational values.

    All Youth Programs

    • Provide executive oversight of youth programs grounded in equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice, ensuring safe, affirming, and developmentally appropriate environments for all participants.
    • Provide strategic direction, supervision, and support across all youth leadership programs, including After School Program (ASP), Leaders in Training (LiT), and No Limit Leadership Program (NLLP).
    • Participate in and/or lead weekly program and youth development planning meetings to support coordination, quality, and continuous improvement across programs.
    • Accompany program participants and staff on day and overnight trips as needed to ensure safety, program quality, and staff support.
    • Ensure high-quality, compliant operations through accurate documentation and systems management, including attendance, timesheets, incident reports, and required records.
    • Serve as a senior point of contact for program concerns, responding with cultural humility and restorative approaches to student, family, staff, and volunteer needs.
    • Lead family engagement strategies that value families as partners, including hosting orientations, maintaining regular communication, and responding promptly and respectfully to questions or concerns.
    • Directly manage sensitive family communications related to behavioral concerns, disciplinary actions, and incident reports using trauma-informed, restorative, and developmentally appropriate practices.
    • Serve as the final decision-maker on program dismissals and escalated disciplinary matters, ensuring decisions are equitable, transparent, and aligned with organizational values.
    • Collaborate closely with Youth Program Coordinators and the Youth Programs Manager to support student well-being, staff capacity, and consistent behavioral management practices across programs.
    • Develop and oversee program procedures, curricula, and safety protocols that reflect best practices in youth development, social-emotional learning, and community-responsive programming.

    Financial Management, Growth, and Sustainability

    • Provide strategic leadership for financial management and fund development to ensure equitable access, program stability, and long-term sustainability of youth programs and facilities.
    • Develop, manage, and monitor annual budgets for Camp ANV, After School Program (ASP), and No Limit Leadership Program (NLLP), aligning resources with program priorities and community needs.
    • Design and implement long-term fundraising strategies that center mission impact, community partnerships, and diversified revenue streams.
    • Lead inclusive marketing, outreach, and enrollment strategies to increase access, analyze enrollment trends, and strengthen recruitment and retention of participants from historically underserved communities.

    Talent Development and Supportive Supervision

    • Lead human resource strategies rooted in equity and supportive supervision to recruit, hire, train, and retain diverse, skilled seasonal and year-round staff.
    • Align staffing models with enrollment and program needs to ensure safe ratios, strong relationships, and consistent youth support.
    • Provide ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities that build staff capacity in trauma-informed care, restorative practices, and youth-centered leadership.
    • Oversee volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination as needed to support program goals and community engagement.

    Facilities, Partnerships, and Community-Based Leadership

    • Lead efforts to secure and steward program sites for Camp ANV, ASP, and NLLP through annual needs assessments and collaboration with community stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain strong, reciprocal relationships with schools, local organizations, and recreation centers to ensure program continuity and long-term sustainability.
    • Develop and sustain community partnerships that elevate local leadership, strengthen youth programming, and advance ANV’s mission of equitable youth development.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in youth development, teaching, tutoring, or related educational settings.
    • At least 2 years of experience in nonprofit management, including program oversight and operational leadership.
    • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and providing coaching and mentorship to support professional growth.
    • Grounded youth development philosophy that values trauma-informed care, youth leadership, cultural humility, and restorative justice practices.
    • Strong initiative, follow-through, and commitment to organizational mission and youth well-being.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and responsively across multiple channels.
    • Demonstrated enthusiasm for working with youth and supporting their holistic growth and development.
    • Proficiency in a non-English language—particularly Spanish or Arabic—is strongly preferred but not required.

    Additional Requirements

    • Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required by program needs.
    • Ongoing individual learning and engagement in anti-racist practices is required.
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain; training provided by ANV).
    • Successful completion of fingerprinting and background check (all costs covered by Acta Non Verba).
    • TB test and up-to-date immunizations required prior to start date (health history and immunization records must be submitted).
    • Food Handler Safety Card (or willingness to obtain; training provided by ANV).
