    CaringKind is NYC’s leading expert in dementia care, education and support. We are the only organization in NYC with over 46 years of experience providing a comprehensive system of support for those impacted by Alzheimer’s and related dementias during every stage of the disease.

    We are hiring a Walk Manager who will lead efforts for the New York City Alzheimer’s Walk, a signature fundraising event and is responsible for helping to meet the Walk fundraising goal of $725,000 by recruiting and retaining Walk Teams, Team Captains and securing sponsors. This position reports to the Chief Development Officer.

    The Walk Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and growth CaringKind’s signature New York City Alzheimer’s Walk. This individual leads all aspects of the Walk program within their assigned territory to drive revenue, engage community partners, and enhance awareness of the organization’s mission to support individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

    Key Responsibilites

    Fundraising and Event Management

    • Serves as the point person for all team captains. This role usually begins with outreach (via email, phone) to past team captains who have not yet registered for the current year’s Walk
    • Leads the registration process for all teams, and recruit, train, and steward volunteer committees, team captains, sponsors, and participants.
    • Collaborate closely with Eventage (the contracted logistics team) to plan and execute a well-organized and successful CaringKind New York City Alzheimer's Walk.
    • Work with Eventage to manage and ensure the timely submission and execution of all necessary documentation, permits, applications, and contracts with external organizations, e.g., NYC Parks, NYC Fire Dept, etc.
    • Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of donor information and work closely with the Finance Team to facilitate clear and transparent communication between donors and CaringKind.
    • Coordinate with the Finance Team regarding the processing of vendor invoices and payments
    • Attend all CaringKind Walk events, scheduling and attending any CaringKind third party events.
    • Lead the planning, logistics, and execution of the Walk event(s) to achieve or exceed revenue goals.
    • Participate in all Walk staff meetings, trainings and webinars, assisting in all of the logistics planning and other Walk tasks that arise throughout the season.
    • Develop and implement year-round strategies to cultivate corporate sponsorships, donor relationships, and community partnerships.
    • Coordinates inventory of supplies for day-of event.
    • Track performance metrics and provide regular progress reports to leadership.
    • Collaborate with the VP of Marketing to develop promotional materials, social media campaigns, and email outreach.

    Qualifications

    • The Walk Manager must have successful fundraising event experience.
    • The candidate must have strong organizational and project management skills along with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • The position requires excellent computer literacy, as this Manager will serve as technical support for many Walk participants, some of whom are not computer savvy.
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and an enjoyment of working with the public and building community.
    • As the front-facing Walk staff member, it’s crucial that trust and solid relationships exist to ensure the most successful Walk possible.
    • Must have excellent customer service and the ability to quickly follow up on all team captain requests.
    • The Walk Manager should anticipate hours that are increasingly irregular as Walk day approaches with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed, especially during Walk season.
    • 4-year degree required.
    • Proficiency in CRM or donor management systems (Salesforce and Classy)
