    Descrição

    About the Role

Bedford 2030 is a grassroots climate action organization with a mission to address climate

change by empowering communities to take local action for a healthy environment. We are

seeking a Communications Manager to support our Communications Director in promoting,

educating, engaging, and enabling the communities we serve to take impactful action.

What that means: you're on the team that creates the videos, graphics, newsletters, and social

content that get people to our events and into our programs—and you’ll keep the systems

(website, email, project management) that make our small team run.

You'll report to and work closely with the Communications Director, collaborating regularly with

the Programs and Development teams. The Communications Director will provide creative

direction and strategy while giving you plenty of room to own projects, experiment, and develop

your skills. This is a hands-on, full-time, flex-schedule role that occasionally requires evening or

weekend work for events and tabling.

This is a great role for a disciplined creative generalist who wants to make things, learn by

doing, and have a visible hand in everything from a TikTok to an Earth Day event—while helping

build the communications systems that keep a small, ambitious organization moving.

    What You’ll Do

    Storytelling & Content Creation

    • Create and execute organic and paid social media campaigns, and digital and print media advertising campaigns that promote our programs and educate on how climate change shows up in our everyday lives and how we can fight back
    • Write, shoot, and edit content for Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok
    • Write and design our newsletter (2x/month), blog posts, and press releases
    • Design graphics and promo materials in Canva; edit video in CapCut
    • Get in front of the camera for interviews, explainers, social content, and event promotion, bringing warmth, personality, and confidence to our public-facing communications.

    Marketing, Promotion, & Events

    • Plan and run paid digital advertising campaigns, including Meta Ads and Google Ads, to promote programs and events
    • Coordinate event promotion, including outreach to local papers, newsletters, and community calendars
    • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for major events (Earth Day, Clean Ride & Drive, etc.)
    • Staff Bedford 2030 tabling at community events
    • Prepare engaging materials, activities, and sign-up opportunities that help us connect with potential program participants and newsletter subscribers at events

    Organization, Administration, & Communications Systems

    • Maintain and improve our communications systems and platforms, including Asana, Constant Contact, Google Drive, and WordPress
    • Maintain contact lists across media, partners, volunteers, and newsletter subscribers
    • Manage, maintain, and update the WordPress website
    • Track basic performance across email, social, website, and paid campaigns and use what we learn to improve future content and outreach.

    Who You Are

    • A strong writer and storyteller who can also design, film, and edit content. You don't need to be an expert in all of it, but you're not afraid of any of it.
    • Organized enough to keep shared systems (Google Drive, Asana, Constant Contact) usable by a whole team
    • A self-starter who's comfortable maintaining, building, and improving systems—we're mid-transition as an org, so some of what you inherit will eventually need rethinking
    • Warm, personable, and comfortable building relationships with colleagues, community members, partners, and the public
    • An excellent communicator, in writing and out loud, with a real sense of humor and an optimistic, enthusiastic attitude toward the work and our mission
    • Genuinely curious about climate action and comfortable talking about it
    • A creative thinker who's willing to take risks, experiment, and bring new ideas to the table
    • Tapped into pop culture, trends, and what's newsworthy—and quick to see how it connects back to our work
    • A collaborator who can work with staff, board, and community partners, and stay even-keeled when plans change
    • You have a strong instinct for what makes people pay attention, click, share, show up, and take action online
    • A strong prioritizer who can juggle multiple projects, keep deadlines moving, and adapt when priorities change
    • Tech-curious and willing to learn new software and explore integrating agentic AI into our efforts.

Tools you'll use regularly: Canva, CapCut, WordPress (or a similar platform), Constant Contact (or a similar ESP), Asana, Google Drive, Meta Business Suite/Ads Manager

Also required: a valid driver's license, a reliable car, living within commuting distance to Katonah, NY, and a strong interest in and commitment to climate action.

    Benefícios

Health benefits, generous holidays, personal days, and a 4-day flex week. Work is mostly remote, with occasional in-office days, meetings, and local events (must live within commuting distance of Katonah, NY).

    Nível de Proficiência do Idioma

English fluency is required. Spanish is a plus.
