    Position Summary

    The Director of Individual & Corporate Giving is responsible for leading and growing the organization’s individual and corporate revenue through strategic relationship management, donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This role oversees major gifts, annual giving strategy, and corporate partnerships, with a clear mandate to increase unrestricted and flexible revenue.

    The Director serves as a frontline fundraiser with a personal portfolio of donors and corporate partners, while also shaping strategy, systems, and messaging that drives sustainable philanthropic growth. This position does not manage foundation grants, allowing focused attention on high-touch donors and partner relationships. The Director is responsible for raising $600k per year in philanthropic support through individual and corporate giving, with the expectation that revenue will increase year over year.

    Core Responsibilities

    Individual Giving Strategy & Execution

      • Lead and execute a comprehensive individual giving strategy, including annual fund, major gifts, and donor upgrades.
      • Manage a personal portfolio of major donors and high-capacity prospects, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
      • Develop and implement donor journey strategies that improve retention, increase average gift size, and deepen long-term engagement.
      • Partner with leadership and board members to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors within their networks.

    Corporate Giving & Partnerships

      • Develop and manage a corporate giving and sponsorship strategy aligned with organizational priorities and revenue goals.
      • Cultivate long-term corporate partnerships that include sponsorships, employee engagement, and philanthropic investment.
      • Lead proposal development and renewal conversations for corporate partners (excluding foundation grants).
      • Ensure strong stewardship and recognition practices that demonstrate value and impact to corporate supporters.

    Revenue Accountability & Growth

      • Own individual and corporate revenue targets and be accountable for meeting or exceeding annual goals.
      • Track donor and corporate performance metrics, including retention, growth, and pipeline movement.
      • Use data and reporting to inform strategy, prioritize prospects, and evaluate return on investment.

    Stewardship, Communications & Collaboration

      • Ensure donors and corporate partners receive timely, meaningful, and mission-aligned stewardship.
      • Collaborate with marketing and program teams to translate impact into compelling donor communications.
      • Support donor-facing events, cultivation opportunities, and recognition activities as part of a broader engagement strategy.

    Leadership & Organizational Integration

      • Serve as a strategic partner within the development team, contributing to overall fundraising planning and execution.
      • Support a culture of philanthropy across the organization by reinforcing the importance of donor relationships and revenue sustainability.
      • Maintain accurate records, notes, and moves management activity in the CRM system.

    Qualifications

    Required

      • 5–7+ years of progressive fundraising experience, with a strong focus on individual and/or corporate giving.
      • Demonstrated success securing major gifts and managing donor portfolios.
      • Experience leading corporate partnerships or sponsorships.
      • Strong relationship-building, communication, and solicitation skills.
      • Ability to think strategically while executing tactically in a fast-paced environment.

    Preferred

      • Experience in a nonprofit organization with a $3M+ annual fundraising operation.
      • Comfort managing up to senior leadership and working with board members on donor strategy and solicitations.
      • Familiarity with CRM systems, specifically Bloomerang, and data-driven fundraising practices.

    Position Scope & Exclusions

    This role does not manage foundation grants or grant writing, which are handled separately to ensure focused leadership on individual and corporate philanthropy.
