Law Clerk Position - Summer 2027 (June 7 – August 6, 2027)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The summer law clerk position is a paid summer internship at the National Police Accountability Project (NPAP), a national civil rights organization engaged in litigation, legislative advocacy, and amicus support in select appellate cases. The clerk will be a critical part of our team, assisting with every aspect of our legal and policy work including drafting research memoranda, attending case strategy meetings, assisting with drafting briefs, developing legislative strategies, and supporting all phases of litigation. All of the clerk’s work will advance NPAP’s mission of holding police and correctional officers accountable to professional and constitutional standards. The position will likely be remote though in-person options are available.

QUALIFICATIONS/APPLICATION PROCEDURE

The law clerk position is open to 2L students committed to pursuing a career in public interest litigation and enthusiastic about working with a small, dynamic team of attorneys passionate about their work. COMPENSATION

Law clerks are paid a $5,000 stipend in two installments. The first installment is paid during the first week of the clerkship and the second installment is paid during the fourth week of the clerkship.

The National Police Accountability Project (NPAP) is a 501(c)(3) organization and a project of the National Lawyers Guild, which was founded in 1937 as the first racially integrated national bar association. In 1999, NPAP was created as a non-profit to protect the human and civil rights of individuals in their encounters with law enforcement and detention facility personnel. The central mission of NPAP is to promote the accountability of law enforcement officers and their employers for violations of the Constitution and the laws of the United States.
