This is a hybrid internship based in Twin Cities with required event support. This is a part-time (15/hr) week internship.

Position Summary
This internship is designed to support the execution of OIC of America’s STEM programming, including STEM Saturdays and STEMFest events, with a primary focus on event coordination, inventory management, and operational support.
The intern will take on a hands-on role supporting kit preparation, materials organization, and event logistics, while gaining exposure to how operational systems support large-scale STEM programming.
Key Responsibilities
Kit Preparation & Inventory Management (Primary Focus)
- Support packing of activity kits (14 days prior to events)
- Assist with caddy preparation (day before events)
- Track inventory and materials across events
- Identify missing, damaged, or low supplies
- Support organization of storage and materials
Event Coordination Support
- Assist with setup and breakdown of STEM events
- Support organization and distribution of materials on-site
- Help ensure activity stations are prepared and maintained
- Support smooth execution of event logistics
STEM Saturday & STEMFest Support
- Assist with execution of STEM Saturday events
- Support operational needs at STEMFest events
- Provide hands-on support during event setup, execution, and cleanup
Materials Organization & Systems Support
- Assist in maintaining organized inventory systems
- Support improvements to kit preparation and packing processes
- Help ensure materials are consistently tracked and accounted for
Professional Development Opportunities
- Hands-on experience in event operations and logistics
- Exposure to inventory management systems
- Development of organizational and problem-solving skills
- Insight into how operational systems support STEM programming
Capstone Project
- Develop a Kit & Inventory Management Plan, which may include:
- Standardized inventory tracking system
- Kit packing process (14-day model)
- Caddy packing framework
- Recommendations for improving efficiency and organization
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
- Ability to manage physical materials and logistics
- Reliable and able to follow through on tasks
- Interest in event planning or operations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation:
The hourly wage for this part-time 15/hr week internship is $21/hr non-exempt internship.

- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
- Ability to learn/translate/refer to technical material and produce extensive written communications.
- Ability to travel to external meetings both locally and nationally, including periodic overnight travel.
- Normal work requires frequent use of the telephone and computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse).
- Ability to be mobile at meetings and events.
- May be required to move about frequently in the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, attend meetings, etc.
- May require standing/sitting for prolonged periods of time during meetings and conferences.
- Must be able to communicate in large gatherings and conduct information sessions with technology so others will understand.
