Details
Art in Tanzania has been operating since 1996. Our community placements attract about 250 participants annually. Our vision is to give students hands-on experience working in developing African communities. In addition to your studies, you will have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience of African culture and life, as well as fantastic natural scenery and wildlife.
The Children's Agenda program, created by 40 Tanzanian NGOs, including UNICEF and Save the Children, focuses on children's rights to education, healthcare, sanitation, and other necessities.
We also work closely with children's families to meet their needs. As the media team leader, Art in Tanzania, Art tailors the team's efforts to raise awareness of the program and its results.
The program has ten key investment points: Invest to Save the Lives of Children and Women, Invest in Good Nutrition, Invest in Better Hygiene and Sanitation in Schools and Health Facilities, Invest in Early Childhood Development, Invest in Quality Education for all Children, Invest to Make Schools Safe, Invest to Protect Infants and Adolescent Girls from HIV, Invest to Reduce Teenage Pregnancy, Invest to Protect Children from Violence, Abuse, and Exploitation and Invest in Children with Disabilities.
We advocate for the public, leveraging the strong visibility of our Facebook pages, which have over 50,000 followers.
Academic-level team leaders supervise your internship daily. We also monitor your progress with a weekly plan and report system to ensure you stay on track in your study program.
The internship outcome is learning to apply and gain experience implementing your education in developing country conditions with limited capacity, as well as a better understanding of the opportunities in a fast-growing economy.
Work hours are 6- 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday.
The program is ongoing, so the start dates are adjustable. Your placement is tailored to your background, experience, and interests, empowering our daily work with the communities.
Daily tasks include practical fieldwork, planning, reporting, and visibility work.
The start and end dates are flexible, as all programs are ongoing, with many having been running since 1996.
You and your visiting friends can enjoy low-cost, sustainable safaris and tours.
Typically, we have 15-40 students from diverse parts of the world, representing over 400 universities with which we collaborate, as well as various professions.
