Frontend, Backend & Full-Stack Web Development Internship

We are NEXO Sicilia, a young, newly-founded social enterprise located in Agrigento, Sicily. For this internship, you will work with our partner organization, T.T.T. – Tierra, Techo, Trabajo APS, a Social Promotion Association based here in Agrigento. We are looking for motivated interns to join T.T.T.’s multicultural team and contribute to the development of the digital platform for our partner organization's project hub, a library and social centre dedicated to education, civic engagement, inclusion, and youth empowerment.

The platform will support the library’s educational, cultural, and social activities by improving access to information, resources, and community initiatives.

Your Role

Depending on your profile and interests, your internship may focus on Frontend Development, Backend Development, Full-Stack Development, or UX/UI Design.

You may:

• Develop and implement new features for our web platform
• Build responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces using modern frontend technologies
• Develop backend functionalities, APIs, and server-side logic supporting the platform’s services
• Design and manage relational databases to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of information
• Collaborate on the development of a scalable, secure, and maintainable web application
• Design user interfaces, wireframes, and interactive prototypes to improve the user experience
• Test, debug, and optimize the platform to ensure performance and reliability
• Collaborate with designers, developers, and project coordinators throughout the development process
• Contribute ideas for new digital features that improve access to educational resources, community services, and cultural initiatives
• Participate in a collaborative, multicultural, and innovation-driven environment where technology is used to generate tangible social impact

Apply if this is you:

• You are currently studying or have a background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Web Development, UX/UI Design, Digital Design, or related fields
• You are interested in frontend, backend, full-stack development, or UX/UI design
• You are proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working on collaborative software development projects
• You have a good command of English (minimum B2 level)
• A portfolio, GitHub profile, or examples of software, web development, or UX/UI projects are highly appreciated.

Skillsets we’re looking for:

• Frontend Development
  • HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Vue.js or React
• Backend Development
  • PHP or Python
  • MySQL or other relational databases
  • Laravel or Symfony are considered a plus
• Full-Stack Development
  • A combination of frontend and backend technologies
• UX/UI Design
  • Figma or Adobe XD
  • Wireframing, prototyping, and user interface design

Additional experience with Node.js, Java, Go, C++, C#, Swift, mobile application development, or other programming languages is highly appreciated and may allow you to contribute to future digital projects.

Our Requirements:

• You are eligible for the Erasmus+ program or a similar international mobility program, which typically provide you with financial support
• You are available to spend at least 4 months in Agrigento
• You are able to cover possible short-distance commuting expenses related to the internship
