Development Manager - Housing and food stipend provided!

The Development Manager is an important member of our in-country Leadership Team and helps connect our international community with our local community.

For this 12-month role, we’re looking for someone with an open heart, an open mind, a sense of responsibility, and a sense of humor. Someone creative and curious, who enjoys making connections, is willing to take initiative, and can be counted on to follow through. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to collaborate as part of an international team, learn from the community, and be the kind of person who notices what needs to be done—and does it.

This role involves fundraising—but it’s also so much more. It’s an opportunity to use your creativity, communication skills, and professional interests to build relationships and create support to sustain the programs at the heart of Honduras Child Alliance.

Development & Outreach

With a focus on development, you’ll create engaging fundraising appeals and social media content, cultivate donor relationships, help coordinate in-kind donations, and identify new sources of support. You’ll gain hands-on experience with donor communications, a CRM/database, crowdfunding, and other aspects of nonprofit management.

But there’s plenty more to the role.

Get ready for our awesome students! You’ll work side by side in the classroom with our Honduran interns and international volunteers, getting to know the kids and becoming part of their learning experience. The Development Manager helps create an environment where students, local interns, volunteers, staff, and community members all have opportunities to learn, connect, and grow.

A key part of the role is supporting our local young adults—the Honduran intern cohort we call PEP-Professionals—as they build professional experience, utilize critical thinking and creative problem-solving, and gain confidence. You might organize a workshop, connect an intern with a supporter who can provide mentoring, arrange opportunities to practice English or computer skills, or help develop community service projects that encourage young people to explore their interests and discover their talents.

You’ll also help welcome and support our international volunteers, helping them become part of the HCA team and encouraging genuine connections with our staff, interns, students, and community. You may help coordinate visiting supporters, university workgroups, dental teams, and other partnerships, while looking for new opportunities to bring useful resources, skills, and relationships to El Porvenir.

Spanish is part of the fun—and part of the job! You’ll need an intermediate level of Spanish to connect with our Honduran staff, interns, students, and community. But no stress—our bilingual Honduran managers and interns can help you along the way, and you’ll have five free Convo-Amigos sessions to dust off your Spanish and get warmed up. Your Spanish doesn’t have to be perfect—but what better way to gain confidence than by living in a Spanish-speaking community?

A year in this role gives you the chance to do more than volunteer abroad. You’ll contribute your own ideas and strengths while learning from the people around you. You’ll be part of an international team, build practical professional experience, develop lasting relationships, and help create opportunities for others along the way.

The Development Manager receives a private room and bath at our beachfront volunteer house, free Wi-Fi, and a weekly food stipend. With a 12-month commitment, HCA also assists with two visa runs, $200 USD each.
