The African Library Project (ALP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing literacy and access to books across Africa. Through partnerships with schools, libraries, communities, and volunteers, ALP establishes and supports libraries that promote reading, learning, and educational opportunity. We have helped establish more than 4,100 libraries across 7 sub-Saharan African countries since 2005.
We are seeking a creative, driven, and digitally savvy Social Media, Digital Fundraising & Website Coordinator (part-time, internship, remote, up to 20 hrs/week) to support our online presence, digital engagement, and fundraising initiatives. A modest stipend is provided in recognition of your contribution.
You will:
- Plan, create, schedule, and publish content across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Manage and update the ALP website — impact stories, donation pages, program updates, and blog content
- Support the planning and execution of digital fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship activities
- Monitor website traffic via Google Analytics and report monthly on digital performance
- Source and develop impact stories from ALP's partner countries across Africa
- Track social media metrics and provide monthly analytics reports with recommendations
You bring:
- A degree (completed or in progress) in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, International Development, Public Relations, or a related field
- Demonstrated interest in or experience with social media content creation across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
- Basic familiarity with website CMS platforms and digital fundraising concepts
- Strong writing and storytelling skills with proficiency in Canva or similar tools
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a remote environment
- Passion for literacy, education, and African development
Preferred:
- Prior nonprofit, internship, or volunteer experience
- Familiarity with Mailchimp, Buffer/Hootsuite/Later, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics, or Google Analytics
- Personal, academic, or professional connection to sub-Saharan Africa
Compensation: Modest stipend provided Hours: Up to 20 hrs/week | Location: Fully remote | Duration: Contract with possibility of renewal
