Alternatives, Inc. is a non-profit youth and family agency founded in 1971. Our mission is to facilitate personal development, strengthen family relationships and enhance the community’s well-being. Alternatives' core focus areas are leadership development, academic enrichment, counseling, and violence and substance abuse prevention.
Based in Uptown but serving youth citywide, Alternatives, Inc. works with approximately 3,000 youth and families every year. Key programs include clinical mental/behavioral health services, crisis intervention, substance abuse counseling and prevention programs, career and employment programs, urban arts, restorative justice, gender-specific programming for girls, and technology programs.
