Shippensburg University of PA - AmeriCorps*VISTA

The VISTA will: 1.Publicize and coordinate service and enrichment opportunities for mentors and mentoring partners at Shippensburg University and surrounding communities. 2.Conduct mentor/mentoring partner orientation, on-going training and programming activities that support the mission of the program. 3.Assist the Shippensburg Area School District in communication with parents and guardians. 4.Design activities with the Advisory Team comprised of university faculty, district faculty, and community members who support the needs of families and students. 5.Evaluate the progress of the program by continuously collecting data. This will include but not be limited to focus groups and pre/post test surveys, such as attitudinal surveys, interest inventories, career interest inventories, personality assessments, and goal sheets. 6.Research and disseminate a guide of best practices, code of conduct and policies/procedures for district/university faculty and mentors regarding the mentoring relationship.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Successful candidate should possess a bachelor’s degree or three years of significant volunteer service experience, excellent administrative and organizational skills, effective skills in program planning and implementation of programs, effective communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population and multiple constituent groups.
