Human Rights for Kids (HRFK) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of the human rights of children. We use an integrated, multi-faceted approach which consists of research & public education, coalition building & grassroots mobilization, and policy advocacy & strategic litigation to advance critical human rights on behalf of children in the United States. Our work consists of: (1) Protecting children from harm; (2) Reforming justice systems to ensure we focus on rehabilitating children who come into conflict with the law; (3) Protecting immigrant, non-native children from harm and discrimination; (4) Promoting access to quality education for all children; and (5) Promoting healthy communities for children to ensure access to housing and health care.
HRFK envisions a world where society protects children from violence and harm, provides treatment and care to those children who do suffer harm, rehabilitates and forgives children who make mistakes or harm others, and ensures that all children are healthy and have an equal chance in the race of life so that they may pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.
Equity, diversity, and inclusion are core values of HRFK and central to our work as a human rights organization. We are a committed to learning and growth, humility and grace, transparency and accountability. We believe in a collective responsibility to create a culture of belonging for all people within our organization – one that respects and embraces difference; treats everyone equitably; and empowers our colleagues to do the best work possible.
