Building Futures Mentoring Program - Bay Area

Sobre Nós

The Building Futures Mentoring Program offers 1-to-1 mentoring to at-risk youth ages 6 – 18 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Mentors meet with their mentees once each week for an average of 2 hours over a 1-year period. We help children develop tools to cope with issues such as low self-esteem, family and peer conflicts, academic underachievement and decision-making skills. Youth are referred from schools and other YMCA programs.

Building Futures provides more training to its mentors before matching than any mentoring program in the Bay Area, preparing them to work successfully with at-risk youth by developing relationship-building skills, exploring issues facing at-risk youth, and strategies to handle difficult situations. Thorough ongoing support is provided by the coordinator who is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern.

Trainings are offered monthly at YMCA locations throughout the Bay Area. If you are interested in attending please let us know and we will contact you about the next steps. We look forward to you joining our diverse and dynamic team of volunteers!
