Sobre Nós

Established in 2014, the Seward Park Conservancy is dedicated to the preservation, maintenance, and restoration of Seward Park and its facilities in partnership with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation.

The Seward Park Conservancy advocates for Seward Park and its historic playground in the heart of Manhattan's Lower East Side. Now in our sixth year, the Conservancy’s all-volunteer Board of Directors helped secure $6.4 million in Seward Park improvements through the city’s innovative Parks Without Borders program.

William H. Seward Park is located at the northeast corner of East Broadway and Essex Street in Manhattan. The park covers 3.36 acres and includes a playground, basketball courts, a Park House, gardens, and multiple areas for relaxation. It also abuts the Seward Park Library, one of the most opulent Carnegie Libraries in New York City.

The park was founded in 1903 and contains the oldest municipal playground in the United States, as well as a rich history steeped in the late 19th century immigrant neighborhood of New York’s Lower East Side.
