New Kent and Williamsburg AARP Tax-Aide

Provide free tax preparation and filing services for low-to-moderate income taxpayers with special attention to those 60 and older

We are the Tax-Aide District covering New Kent, Charles City, James City, Williamsburg and upper York since 1987. We assist nearly 3,000 local residents each year to help them file their taxes. Our counselors receive great training each year and receive IRS certification. In the past, we have primarily partnered with the Williamsburg Regional Library working out of their James City and downtown locations. More recently we have expanded into New Kent County at the Heritage Library offering support for taxpayers to prepare their own taxes. For the 2026 tax return season, that will be augmented with full service support, with counselors preparing and filing returns for the resident.
