Development Impact Lab

The Development Impact Lab (DIL) is USAID-funded global consortium of research institutes, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and industry partners committed to advancing international development through science and technology innovations.

The DIL technology approach emphasizes the entire lifecycle of innovation, including needs assessment and scientific R&D; product design and prototyping; development of business, social, and economic models; impact assessment; and finally, knowledge dissemination and scaling of successful programs and technologies.

By creating a demonstration project pipeline in close partnership with USAID, the Lab will strengthen both academia’s and the Agency’s capacity to understand demand for new technologies in developing countries, identify the most promising innovations, and advance them through the R&D process.
